55 million Dollars

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Johnny Depp will be the next actor that can call himself the best paid one. To come back and reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow he will get a check for 55 Million dollars. Not a bad paycheck, isn’t it? I didn’t think so. But I do think that it is to much. Who needs 55 million to play one role? Nobody, not even the best Jack Sparrow in the world!

With so many actors strugeling in the industry I would love to see one top actor to be a little more humain and strike another kind of contract deal. How about signing a 55 million contract for a role where you keep 1 million and have it stated in the contract that the other 54 million will be equally divided between all the extras, technicians and other lower paid people on the set. Nobody who is already rich needs another 55 million added to his or her account, but all the other people would welcome that little extra to get some bills paid.

55 Million dollars for one movie, for any movie, for any role… way to much. But that is just my 2 cents.

Jack Sparrow’s Life at Disneyland

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

As Disney fans we only (mostly) see the magic, as Disney Geeks we want to know how everything works, As a Disney employee you can get the real story. Those stories can make some interesting articles with some nice stuff, weird surprises and (unfortunately) sometimes bad stories too. One of those stories was pointed out to us by an associate editor of Lamag.com.

If you’re a Disney (Theme Park) fan and love anything Pirates, especially Jack Sparrow, you wil have fun reading the article. Some guest might even recognize themselves (and to the girls and woman out there, if you do, that isn’t a good thing this time :-) )…

The Pirates of the Caribbean Pocket Model Game

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

piratesgamewizkids.jpgToday WizKids announces that they signed a deal with Disney to create a “Pirates of the Caribbean” PocketModel Game. I love the games of Wizkids and have been playing their Marvel HeroClix, DC Heroclix and HorrorClix games since the beginning. (For those knowing the game; I own both the Galactus and the Phoenix figures.)

The also created the game Pirates; a game where players can battle it out using construct 3-D pirate ships from pieces punched out of a styrene card. (WizKids) This however is a game I haven’t played yet, although it did look intriguing.

Transformers vs. Pirates

Monday, July 9th, 2007

taiwanesetransformerposter.jpgThe Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End did a great job at the box office but there is a movie out there trying to do it better and is looking at breaking the record. Pirates III did about $114 million in its opening weekend, but with a count on 3 ½ days and a $100 million counts the battle is on; Transformers looks like it will get into a fight with the pirates to do better, but will they succeed?

While I did love the Pirates III movie and gave it a great review, I never thought I would be doing the same for Transformers. I thought we would get another big budget movie where the effects are everything and the story and acting will be secondary, I was well surprised when I left the cinema. Sure, both pirates and Transformers is filled with the big budget special effect used in so many movies that try to make the big bucks with the cinema goers, but while Pirates proofed character development and story can be part of such a movie, I never thought I would see this in the Transformers movie.

featurette-p-iii-1.jpgIf you would like to see some nice featurettes click on the picture; You’ll find 2 great little videos where some of the secrets of the new Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End are revealed.

They are real fun and will keep us Pirates fans busy until the release (25 May). Although, I don’t think it spoils it for me, if you want to be kept surprised maybe wait to see these until after you’ve seen the movie as some key scenes of the movie are shown.

$1500 for a Pirates Premiere Ticket (Make-a-Wish)

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

make-a-wish-logo1.jpg… but let me start by saying that the money will go to “Make-a-Wish” foundation. (A Foundation that fulfills dreams for children who are battling a very severe illness, a organization I have supported myself in the past)

If you want to see the “Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End” premiere together with the red carpet event and even do some Disney rides on May 15 then you should get some tickets for the world premiere in Disneyland. The tickets are highly priced at $1500 and will be a dream to far away for some (like me), but as this is for a good cause isn’t really that bad of news.

Disney hopes to get $3.000.000, which I don’t think will be a problems as I predict tickets to sell out fast. For more info and to order tickets visit the official Disney Pirates site.

Over the past 25 years, Disney has continued to support the Make-A-Wish cause, contributing more than $10 million in cash and in-kind donations on an annual basis. With more than 6,000 wishes granted each year including visits to the Disney Parks, Disney Cruises, meeting Disney Characters and visiting TV and movie sets, including “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, Disney-themed wishes continue to be the most popular requests. Disneyland Resort Paris New Years Trip: Highlights Day 2 – New Years Eve

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

dlrp-ny-day2-cheyenne.jpgToday was the day of the big celebration, the last day of the year 2006. After a good night sleep and a late wake up call we headed for our Cheyenne Breakfast. Now here is a change for the worst. Not that the breakfast was ever anything special but this was far below any standard. Especially the ham, which was given by a Cast Member to the guests, has been turned in a strange event. 1 Piece was cut in four and if you where lucky you got half of that. We never expect much from a breakfast while staying at Cheyenne, but this was just bad. Now this will not spoil our time at Disneyland Resort Paris and as I promised to give the highlights… here they are…

EPIC Movie (Pirates vs. Narnia vs. X-Men, vs. Charlie vs Harry Potter vs. Superman…)

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

epicmovietrailer.jpg

What do you get when you put scenes from Disney movies like “Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Men’s Chest” and “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” together in a movie with characters from “Superman Returns”, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, the Harry Potter” movies, the X-Men and a whole lot of other big budget movies personalities?

Pirates of the Caribbean 3: Movie Shots

Monday, December 4th, 2006

pirates3-costumesonthebeach1.jpg

New pictures of “Pirates of the Caribbean: at Worlds End” has found its way on the internet showing the “look” of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) and Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) in this installment of the (first?) trilogy. You’ll already get the “Asian” feeling of this part, especially when you see the costume used for Elizabeth.

Will Turner, R.I.P.

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

BloomPirates.jpgWith Pirates of the Caribbean II still fresh in everybody’s mind and the third one not out before next year there are already rumors floating around about the 4th movie.

No deals are being made yet (Although I think we can be pretty sure of part 4 and more) but the latest rumor was that one of the characters would not survive to play in the second rumored trilogy.

Will Turner, the character played by Orlando Bloom, would not return.

Only good words for Robert Iger

Monday, October 9th, 2006

IgerDisneyComp.jpgIn a article “Quietly Keeping the Spotlight on DisneyRobert Iger is praised from every angle. It seems that Iger is doing a great job in his position as the CEO of the Disney Company we all love, and many people seem to think so according to the article. It talks about his personality….

“Bob is very modest about his abilities and instincts — which in fact are very, very good,” said DreamWorks Animation Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg, one of many Disney leaders who departed after disagreements with Eisner. “He is way less engaged in the trappings and public persona than he is in really providing leadership.”

“Bob is a nice guy,” said Comcast Corp. Chief Operating Officer Stephen Burke, who was president of ABC Broadcasting under Iger. “There’s an old business bromide that if you’re interviewing a guy for a job and he treats the waitress poorly, you shouldn’t hire him. Bob would never treat a waitress poorly.”

BuildShip1.jpgIf not on the blog or on DLP.Info, not in a Disney park or watching a Disney movie then I am playing with my son Jarod who just had his birthday (14th September) and was able to choose, with all the vouchers he got, this great Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Man’s Chest “The Flying Dutchman” boat from Mega Bloks to build.
