A New Tower of Terror Movie?

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

tot-dvdMany of Walt Disney World visitors that also visited and love the Tower of Terror might either own or have already seen the Tower of Terror movie that is on sale there. It is a terrible movie, but like so many fan I could not help myself buying it and watching it.

Now it looks like Disney is planning a new movie about their top attraction. If Bloody Disgusting source is correct, a new movie could be in the making. Let’s hope it will be like the Pirates movies and not like that horrible Haunted Mansion movie (how could they spoil that, so sad). However I don’t think they can make it any worst then the movie they already are selling at the attraction store…

You can also order the 1997 movie via amazon.

When Will Walt Disney World Have an Answer?

Monday, January 19th, 2009

wdw-nice-castleThe news or even a rumour of a new attraction is always something exciting. We love to hear about it, write about it and dream about it. But it has been a while since we got some exciting news lately. The excitement came from other parks. Seaworld is getting “Manta”, Universal Studios is building “Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit” Roller coaster and Island of Adventure has plans to stun the audience with their Harry Potter park. All this is happening while Walt Disney World announced… well, nothing much.

OK, that wasn’t totally fair. Walt Disney World is getting Idol! It is also updating Space Mountain to Space Mountain Mission 2 and a new Stitch attraction has just entered the rumour mill.

Any theme park fanatic’s dream, a visit to the IAAPA show! I would love to visit it one day but until then I’ll have to browse the web to still my hunger. If you want to see some pictures visit the Coaster Crew website and you’ll be invited to view a collection of 400 pictures from the event that is currently taking place in Orlando.

There is enough to see on the collection of pictures to get any roller coaster, dark ride, or thrill ride fan’s hart beat a little faster.

Or, if you’re a visitor at the trade show, you can go and make an offer to one of the Cypress Gardens Rides! (a real shame)

New DCA Concept Art?

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

There seems to be some new concept artwork regarding the changes in Disney California Adventure. The pictures include information and/or artwork from the Trolley car that will ride from the main entrance up to the Tower of Terror, the new look for the Sun Wheel (including Mickey’s head as main decoration), The Silly Symphony Swing (replacing the Orange Stinger), the Goofy’s Sky School (Mulholland Makeover) and the most anticipated new attraction for DCA; The Little Mermaid Ariel’s Adventure. To see the artwork visit the Original D website.

Ratatouille in Paris

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

As already mentioned on DLP.Info it’s only a rumor picked up from a CNBC article about the new Toy Story Mania ride, but Ratatouille mentioned to be the next Paris ride does sound exciting. If this will be the next Disney ride, Disney might well be back on track on bringing us exclusive rides for each Disney Park.

Lately we have seen clones pop up from rides already out there (Soarin for Walt Disney World, Buzz Lightyear made its way into Paris, Tower of Terror concurred all resorts, etc) and with (old or new) rumor suggesting even more clones (Crush’s Coaster clones for the US, more Soarin for Paris, etc), future Disney cloned rides are expected. But with Expedition Everest, Crush’s Coaster (not cloned yet), Mission Space or even whole new park concepts like Tokyo’s DisneySea, Disney proofed again and again that putting out something new and never been done before is a guarantied success. Although the clones do bring success (like the Tower does everywhere), it is nice to see that Disney still takes the road of innovative new attractions.

Harry Potter is No Disney Fan

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

ioa-mapcutout.jpgIt looks like it that Harry Potter is going to go to Universal after all (even with the rumor that floated the webs a couple of weeks ago that Disney might still have had a hand in it). If the rumors are correct Universal is planning to add Harry Potter in an unused area, both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure have possible free areas, with the second one being the top possibility (if rumors are indeed correct).

So did Disney lose on this deal? Some might think so but I don’t. I admit, the following might be a bit of a personal look at the situation, but I can’t help myself thinking that this was the best deal for Disney. Yes you read this right; I did say best deal for Disney.

“Disney Lesson 4: Encourage failure” by Michael Eisner

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

piratescurse1.jpgMichael Eisner spoke to a group of Toronto businessmen about his 21 years at Disney and how he changes a $7 billion revenue into a $20 billion one.

He had a couple of “Disney” lessons to spill: Here his lesson on Failure

DISNEY LESSON #4: Encourage failure
“Failure is not a corporate death sentence,” he says, “and punishing failure leads to mediocrity. If people are afraid to take risks, you risk being bland and mediocre.”

A New Disney Park, Pirates Themed Adventure, Toy Story, Monsters and more… (UPDATED)

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

There have been rumors on and of about a fifth gate, and we talked about it over here too on several occasions but with the (soon to be) released annual report we might get to hear something new about another Disney park. The annual report wasn’t released yet but some pictures have leaked out onto the internet. Let’s have a closer look at what they could be…

The first picture states that it is a concept for a new Disney Theme park. Will this be a new gate for Walt Disney World, a new gate for another Disney location in the world or concept for a whole new park? The picture is small but you can see a town area in the front, a castle type of building in the middle of the picture and a modern futuristic looking area in the back of the picture. (Updated: to be a new China Park with Little Mermaid Theme)

Haunted Mansion Room

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

hauntedmansioninsidethemagic.jpgWhat do you do when you’re a Walt Disney World’s Haunted Mansion fan? You collect everything related to the attraction and give it its own room. I have been dreaming of this myself but Ricky Brigante made this dream come true for him by creating a room dedicated to the Haunted Mansion.

Make sure to have a look at the Inside the Magic Blog for more amazing and fun (but not to spooky) pictures…

Disney’s Jungle Cruise: The Movie

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

JungleDisneyland.jpgWith the success of The Pirates of the Caribbean Disney is looking into other potential “rides to movies” projects. This time The Jungle Cruise might find its way to the big screens and there are already some big names attached to the project.

The executive producers of the CW network’s superhero saga “Smallville,” Al Gough and Miles Millar, are in negotiations to write the script. Plot details are being kept under lock and key, but the movie will be set in the 20th century. (Reuters)

The Jungle Cruise is a fun experience and although I don’t see the potential it has for a movie like the pirates do, it might turn out to be something fun. With Smallville being a success the people attached to the new Disney project is a very good start. Let’s hope the can bring out the spirit of the Jungle Cruise and will use some of the funny remarks used by the Cast Members in the spiel.

Clam shell

Friday, September 8th, 2006

NemoRideEpcot1.jpgThe new Nemo ride at EPCOT “The Seas with Nemo & Friends” will (or should) open in October. Disney Online has a picture added with the Clamshell ride vehicles on it.

Thank you to Screamscape for pointing this out together with the rumor that the opening might be postponed until November as they are behind schedule.

Looking forwards to this experience on my next Walt Disney World Trip.

DisneySea: Tower Of Terror Preview Video

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

If you want to have a look at the Tower Of Terror that will open at DisneySea on the 4th September check out this awesome on-ride preview video from Joe’s Tokyo Disney Resort Photo Site. While the fairly big file is loading you can check the big collection of pictures already gathered and shared on the site. From Concept art to a collection of close ups from around the ride.

Once the 16+ minutes movie start you will get to see a lot of Cast Members in and around the attraction, a fun Pre-Show where the window changes and tells part of the story, an awesome looking queue area, an elevator (really?), ghosts and freefalls with a lot of screams. After the ride you’re invited into the shop before exiting the beautiful building. It is well worth seeing this video if you’re a Tower of Terror fan, and if you’re not a fan… it is still worth seeing it. Enjoy

Warehouse Magic

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

Monorail1.jpgFor many Disney collectors no introduction is needed when talking about Mousesurplus; a company, based in Orlando, specialized in buying and selling Disney World memorabilia. They even have a Mark IV Red monorail for sale.

Dreamfinder Forever has visited the new Mousesurplus location and brought back a collection of pictures of all the goodies that will make the Disney collector’s heart skip a beat. You’ll see the Monorail car, Mr Toad Vehicles, Snow White Scary Adventure vehicles, AstroJet, Pinatas from the Mexico pavilion at Epcot, Show props, Hotel Items, the life size Walt Disney Statue, and a whole lot more.

As a collector myself I would love to walk around that place one day…

Jack Sparrow at Disneyland

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

JackCoasterRealms.JPGThe ride that was an inspiration for a movie,… that became a ride inspired by the movie!

Jack has made his entrance at the Disneyland Park in Anaheim and visitors like what they see as first reports are very positive.

Visit Coaster Realms for some pictures of Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.
