Minnie Style

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Just a fun picture of some girls in their element when visiting Walt Disney World. According to the Disney’s Human Element blog photographer only the Japanese have this sense for style and can pull it off. I just think it’s a great picture.

For more Disney’s Human element pictures check out the great blog where you’ll find pictures of the people in and around the Disney Theme Parks.

Mickey Mouse Helps to Solve a Crime

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Looks like Minnie isn’t the only one solving crimes. This time it’s Mickey helping out. If you want to commit benefit theft, don’t think you can go to visit Mickey Mouse and get away with it. Fraud investigators are using pictures of a couple posing with Mickey Mouse who are claiming to be Landlord and tenant.

The picture found by the investigators proofs otherwise and the “happy” couple will now have to face heavy sentences. For more on the story follow the link.

Minnie Mouse helps to Solve a Murder Case

Friday, February 12th, 2010

While most Disney news items or tidbits are fun and magical, occasionally one encounters a weird story. This story is about a very rare Minnie Mouse Key chain, only three of them ever made, that was stolen by a murderer from his victim.

When the key chain popped up at the suspects home the case for the investigators started to look strong and solid. This rare Disney memorabilia is now a key piece of evidence that could put a killer behind bars. To read the full story visit The Ledger website.

The Spirit of Disneyland II

Monday, December 28th, 2009

After Alaska Airlines retired “Spirit of Disneyland” a couple of weeks ago, they introduced to the new “Spirit of Disneyland II” Airplane the public. The first flight took place from Portland to Los Angeles on December 18th 2009  where it was welcomed by three Make a Wish foundation children who traveled to Disneyland to have their wish granted.

Spirit I had Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald pictured on it, the new Spirit II is bigger (a Boeing 737-900) and had room for one more character joining the gang, namely Pluto.

Follow the link to see pictures of the plain getting painted.

Character Chaos… or Not

Monday, March 9th, 2009

mickeyplutoYou can’t visit a Disney park with (young) children without visiting the Disney characters at least once one your trip. For some children this is the highlight of their visit, waited months to see Mickey Mouse, to finally arrive at the magic and share some time with him or one of his friends.

In the US parks guests have the opportunity to visit many of the characters. They are everywhere, waiting for the children’s visit. Most of the time they are located on designated spots, but sometimes they take place on one of the streets in the park. Once guests spot the character they get into line, wait patiently till it’s their turn and get a couple of minutes to shake hands, say a couple of things, get their autograph book signed and take a picture before they have to make room for the next group or family.

I remember visiting the Magic kingdom during Halloween, where Winnie the Pooh and his friends appeared in Halloween outfits. They where lined up, (about 5 characters) and guests formed a long line in front of them to get their pictures taken. It was al very organized and very neat, with new guest lining up behind the last one and never did I see anybody try to queue barge. It looks like a good an honest way to make sure every child gets their turn, but their is a down side to it too. There is no room for sporadic interactive fun.

Star Wars: The Final Four

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

carbonitedonaldDuring the Star Wars Weekends in Walt Disney World Hollywood Studios fans will have another chance to own 4 more Star Wars Disney Character statues. The final four of the series include Mickey Luke, Minnie Leia, Goofy Chewie, and Donald in Carbonite.

Donald in Carbonite was a great choice! I can well imagine he would annoy Jabba so much, ending up in Carbonite. Also the Minnie figure looks awesome. The figures will go on sale around the second week of June and will have a limited edition size of only 600. 500 will be sold in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, while the other 100 will be shipped to Disneyland.

Interesting titbit is that this are being advertised as the final four of the series. What will be the special merchandise in 2010? (Or could it be the end of the Star Wars weekend?) We will have to wait and see.

Star Wars Weekend dates 2009
May 22-24
May 29-31
June 5-7

Miss Minnie Piggie

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

If you’re a pig, living on a farm, your course in live is pretty much set from birth; You’ll get fed a lot and most probably, once fat enough, you’ll end up on somebodies plate! But if you’re a lucky enough pig and are born with a Mickey shaped birthmark on your back you might be very safe. One couple own a pig like this and want to make sure it has a long and healthy live.

Ideally, Miss Minnie Piggie would end up on a Disney-owned Florida farm and lead a pampered life in show biz (WISCnews.com)

Are the Disney Fans Wrong?

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Hong Kong Disneyland has opened their version of “It’s a Small World” only days ago. Their version differences itself from other worldwide version by adding 38 Disney Characters to the classic ride. Disney fans and purist where horrified by the idea that a classic ride would contain Disney Characters. Especially since the news came out the Disney company would be adding the same Disney characters in the Disneyland Anaheim version. Disney fans stood up and let themselves be heard by expressing their thoughts and feelings all over the web about the upcoming changes Disney wants to do. (Example Save the Rainforest website). They didn’t like it…

Star Wars Characters Arriving at Orlando Airport

Monday, May 21st, 2007

starwarsorlandoairpotposterboba1.jpgFlying into Orlando airport visitors will not miss the awesome posters inviting them to come and visit the Star Wars Weekends between 1 June and 24 June at the Disney-MGM studios in Walt Disney World. You’ll get to see pictures from Yoda lifting baggage, Darth Vader taking of his shoes, Darth Maul helping airplanes to land using Lightsabers, Tie Fighters docked at the gates and my favorite; Boba Fett bringing in Han Solo in Carbonite. I wonder if he had to pay more for the extra weight…

Visit a Fake Disney Park (Before it is to late)

Friday, May 11th, 2007

fakedisney-japanprobe1.jpgPictures, reports and even a video have been circulating on the internet about the fake Disney park “Shijingshan” in Beijing.

A banner over the entrance said, “Disney is too far, so please come to Shijingshan.” (Biz Yahoo)

Visitors get to see a collection of Disney faces and Characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald and some of the princesses. The managers of the park have other views on this.

Take our Cinderella as an example. The face of Disney’s Cinderella face is European, but ours is a Chinese. She looks like a young Chinese country girl”

Really? They want to get away what that?
