Lost at a Disney Theme Park

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

If you think Lost should be a Disney attraction you could sign a petition online. Die hard fans of the show started the petition and want the Lost attraction to appear in one of the Disney Theme Parks. ABC network, who brought us Lost, is a parent company of Disney making this wish a possibility. The petition has also some ideas added of what they want to see immortalized; The Frozen Donkey Wheel behind the Orchid Station testing chamber, The Swan station and Hatch ride, A submarine ride to Palu Ferry, Dharmaville Barracks, the Smoke monster, the Ruins, Jacob’s Cabin  and The Egyptian Statue and Jacob’s Lair.

Would you like to see this come alive too? If so you can sign the petition. So far 1500 fans signed it already.

However, personally, I don’t think Disney will make this one happen. There is no big appeal for the younger Disney fans and might not be as family friendly as Disney likes their rides. Also, even with the show being brilliant and setting a new bar for future TV show, with the show ending and no related projects being in the works it might get outdated very soon and would not be able to compete with other Disney classics in the parks.

Germany: get ready for LOST!

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

The US audience of ABC is getting ready for the 2 hour finale of the fifth season of LOST on May 13. The German LOST fans watching the show on the free-tv station Pro7 only this Monday finally saw the finale of season 4 … but fans in Germany should get ready now to catch up … because TODAY at 8.15 pm FOX Channel Germany starts the fifth season – not even 5 months after it premiered in the US!!

The pay-tv station FOX already aired the Germany premiere of the fourth season and now continues with the Germany premiere fifth season – which it presents with the original English soundtrack as well as with a German dubbed soundtrack. Since FOX Channel Germany finally switched to 16:9 transmission on April 1st the fifth season finally can be seen as originally envisioned by its creators and as aired on ABC.

Racing Lighting McQueen

The box office in the US is a burning … record after record is falling … while other parts of the economy are hard hit, going out for an evening at the movies seems to be “the” thing to do right now in the US. Past weekend the fourth installment of Universal’s franchise “Fast & Furious” (titled: “Fast & Furious – New Model… Original Parts”) starring Vin Diesel (he is still making movies??), Paul Walker as well as Michelle Rodriguez (which also starred in ABC’s hit series LOST) - all three from the original first movie – did take advantage of the hot box office by leaving several notable box office records in the US behind it in the dust according to reports:

More Nominations for Disney

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

walle-s1The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror films has announced their nominations for the 35th Annual Saturn Awards that will take place on 25th June. Disney has also received some nominations for the Saturn awards. Four nominations go to “The Chronicles of Narnia; Prince Caspian” in the category Best Fantasy Film, Best Costume, Best Make-Up and Best Special Effects. Andrew Stanton got an nomination for Best Director for the Oscar winning “Wall-E”. “Wall-E” also scores an nomination in Best Animation Film. It is up against “Bolt” and “Kung Fu Panda”, but this time there is also “Madagascar: Escape to Africa”, “Horton Hears a Who” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” fighting in the same category for that price.

“Lost” (ABC) is nominated for Best Network Television Series and after just recently seeing the episode dedicated to John Locke I can see this one winning. This is not the only nomination for “Lost” as Matthew Fox is nominated for Best Actor in Television and Evangeline Lilly for Best Actress in Television. However Evangeline Lilly has to fight against Anna Paquin who is amazing in the fantastic vampire series “True Blood”.

60th Primetime Emmy Awards Nominations

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the 60th Primtime Emmy Awards nominations and Disney has some of their talent and productions in the running too.

In the category Outstanding Children’s Program Disney managed to get three of the five nominated entries. Hannah Montana, High School Musical 2 and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. While I would love to see The Suite Life win I think the title will go to HSM2.

Outstanding Choreography is another category where Disney is present. Again for High School Musical 2. This for the routines; ‘What Time Is It?’, ‘Fabulous’, ‘Work This Out’, ‘I Don’t Dance’, ‘You Are the Music In Me’, ‘For One’. Although not a fan of the High School Musical movies, I do understand they are nominated for this category. The choreography is good and fun, but will it be enough to win? Personally I hope that one of the three “So you Think you Can Dance” routines (either Hummingbird and Flower / ‘The Chairman’s Waltz” ,“Transformers / ‘Fuego” and “Table / ‘Sweet Dreams”) will make it as the choreography in this program is awesome. This show is proof that dance is an amazing art form, but unfortunately so many people still don’t (want to) see it.

LOST in June – News for Germany

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Just a short post for all fellow LOST fans in Germany: FOX (the all new tv-station on air as of May 19 via satellite and as of May 20 in the cable of UnityMedia) announced that the season premiere of LOST’s season 4 (currently on air in the US) will be aired on June 15 (a Sunday).

LOST on FOX?!

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Disney’s international mega hit “LOST” might soon be banging the drum for FOX, one of the big competitors of Disney’s network ABC. No need to worry if you are in the US. Certainly the fifth season will be back on ABC. What I am talking about is Germany.

The first four seasons of “LOST” in Germany premiered on “Premiere”, a pay tv station to move on to the free tv station “Pro7″ roughly six months later. While Premiere is a partner of Disney as it also provides the platform via which the Disney Channel is offered in Germany, Pro7 is “just” a regular customer for Disney tv products. But now “Premiere” seems to be out of the picture…

I have had the opportunity to visit this awesome convention in the past and have been dreaming of a return ever since. Unfortunately it will not be this year (but there is always a chance for another year)

For those (Disney fans) going to visit the event; here are some highlights you really should not miss:

Lost; The End

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

lost-theend1.jpgDid I scare you a little with the title? Don’t worry though; it isn’t that bad of news. I even think it is very good news. If sources are correct in this article ABC will be announcing the end date of the hit series “Lost”. Why is this good? Well the writers always said they had an ending ready and adding extra seasons would not be good for the story as they would have to come up with subplots and stories that might be less relevant to the big story. With the end date in place writers can now work towards the big finale and give some answers to the fans on the way. With a clear track “Lost” will be able to go out with a big bang.

While an announcement will be made on this soon, within the next few days, clear information on seasons or parts might not be known.

According to these sources, ABC will be making an announcement declaring an end date for Lost very soon. However, the exact number of remaining episodes and seasons is still muddy—and might not be exactly two seasons. (E Online Watch with Kristin Blog)

One thing we fans know is that “death” visit regularly on the island. For this season’s finally one of the deaths will “blow you away”. I guess we are in for a big surprise. (Source; Watch With Kristin)

Who Dies Before the end of this Season’s “Lost”?

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Somebody slipped a little secret during a talk show on TV about who is going to die before the end of this season’s “Lost“. It happened on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC.

If you want to know who said who would die read on. If you want to stay surprised go and read some other articles on this blog. :-)

RATATOUILLE at WonderCon

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

Last weekend at the WonderCon at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco, California, the latest about Disney Pixar’s upcoming feature “RATATOUILLE” was revealed during a presentation by its director Brad Bird. Attendees were treated to some more details about the story and the voice casting as well as to new clips from the movie – and finally also the first trailer, after the teaser has been around for quite a while. While attendees certainly enjoyed this part of the presentation, for those of us not able to attend another segment of the presentation might be even more exciting: the open-question session, during which the audience got Brad Bird to reveale some rather interesting news … about “RATATOUILLE” as well as other projects…

Disney and the 33rd Annual Saturn Award Nominees

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

piratesnominated1.jpgDisney might be walking away with some more film and TV prices as they have been given some nominations for the 33rd Annual Saturn Award Nominees (The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror films).

Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Man’s Chest has been nominated for best fantasy film. The one movie I think might be walking away with it could be Superman Returns. Personally I see a close call between these two great movies

Cars could walk away with yet another best animation price if it wins in this category. This time however there are more then three movies on the list (Flushed Away, Happy Feet, Monster House, Over the Edge and A Scanner Darkly). Even with more competition then on other shows there is a good chance Cars will bag this one to.

Ups … another award

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

Award season is in full swing and it is easy to miss one award (or even more) if you blink a bit too slow … that’s what happened to me. I only just realized that the Screen Actors Guild held its 13th Annual SCREEN ACTORS GUILD Awards ceremony past Sunday! And certainly Disney was able to garner some awards – if not that many.

In the field of “Theatrical Motion Pictures” the only award for The Walt Disney Company was won by Helen Mirren in the category Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her title part in the Miramax release “THE QUEEN”. Disney did fare a lot better in the section “Primetime Television” where the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series went to Chandra Wilson for her part as Dr. Miranda Bailey in ABC’s “GREY’S ANATOMY”. For the same show the whole ensemble was honored with the SAG award in the category Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, beating out amongst others the also nominated cast of ABC’s “BOSTON LEGAL”. In addition America Ferrera was able to win the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her part as Betty Suarez in ABC’s “UGLY BETTY”. And last but not least Julie Andrews, remembered by millions around the world as Disney’s Mary Poppins was honored with the Screen Actors Guild Awards 43rd Annual Life Achievement Award also handed over during the SAG award ceremonies.

If you want more information about “the award show where only actors vote for actors” take a look at the dedicated official website including the complete list of award winners. The site includes a special feature offering transcripts of all acceptance speeches complete with a photo of the winner on stage … certainly including Mary Poppins, I mean Julie Andrews.

Lost: The End

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

lostseries2dvd.jpgWhen writing on the blog I sometimes think about adding some “Lost” entries too. After all it is ABC’s best series (personal opinion), even if it didn’t win any Golden Globe awards. With so much Disney related babbling I am doing, Lost entries have not really been something I managed to do but the next little news did get my attention and I felt I wanted to share my thoughts on it.

‘Lost’ Will End … Sometime”… and it should. While many series tell stories about lives inside the “real” world that could go on until the viewer had enough or the actors want to stop I feel that Lost is a story that is about 1 certain chapter that has a beginning, a middle and an end. Dragging it into an ongoing series without an end in sight isn’t such a good idea, even if the ratings are good. The producers always said that they had a full story ready where the end is known. Making the story longer could only resolve in bad episodes or even damage the whole Lost idea.
