It has been almost three years (it will be in February) since we started to bring you Disney news, Disney fun, Disney stories, Disney tidbits and hopefully a whole lot of Disney magic (seen from different points of view) in the last 1000 blog entries.

We would like to thank all of our readers, visitors, Disney fans and guests for coming to our pages. Without you we could not do this. So thank you for your visits and support. Also a big thank you to Disney for bringing us the magic every day. Without Disney we would also be not here. And a special thank you to all the Disney Cast Members who are the heart of the Disney parks.

We hope you will come back for many more visits to our blog to share our love for Disney. Up to the 10.000 now… so spread the word about this blog and thank you again (to everybody reading this)

Disney Shanghai?

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

mickey001A surprising Disney news about Disney building their park in Shanghai has been released by Reuters. It has been very quit around the possible Disney expansion on the Asian market, especially after the problems with the Hong Kong park not performing as hoped one would not expect Disney or the Chinese government to continue with any new plans. But if Reuters is correct talks are now over and an official announcement will be made soon. Once plans have been revealed it will still need approval from the China’s central government, without it no park can be opened. One would suspect however that the government will give their seal of approval in a heartbeat. The new park would provide many jobs to the people from and around Shanghai, that’s not something anybody will say no too. If the park will be build a possible opening date is set for 2013.

Halloween in Hong Kong

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

On the Hong Kong Disneyland website you can find a video about their upcoming Halloween event. The video is fun and even a little (for the smaller once) scary. It gives you a nice idea what to expect and is fun to watch. Even if you would not make it to that park (I guess I am not the only one living a little far away from Hong Kong to just go over there and pop in), make sure to watch the Hong Kong Disneyland site and watch this video.

Things that really caught my eye on the video (for me at least) is the “Adventure Haunted Trail” where zombies and pumpkin men will be waiting for you (I wonder how scary they are going to make this) and “Demon Jungle”. “Demon Jungle” is another scary looking theme where you’ll meet… well… demons. Sounds scary for a Disney park, but to me it sounds like great fun…

from Walt Disney World -1

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Hi my friends
This la Andrea reporting LIVE from Walt Disney World (I have always dreamed about saying it ;-) )

Anyways , after a heavy work year in which I have also lived the double life of manager and University student for a second Degree (how does HAndrea Montana sound? ;-) and having spent thr last 2 weeks on a round the world business tour in hong kong (yes don’t ask ITSM at HKDL is beautifull ;-), Singapore, Auckland and Australia (Perth,Melbourne,Brisbane and Sydney) I decided instead of flying back to Italy to chill my brain out in WDW

…and as, besides a few meetups with local friends, I am all alone on this trip (Danke Her V.D. ;-) ) with my Iphone I’ll blog here and there (as long as the 3G battery lasts that is; which won’t be long! )

Visit Every Disney Park in the Whole Wide World

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Most people who know me are used to my Disney rants, and those people that don’t know me get acquainted with it soon enough. Even when I go to a job interview, before the interview is over, somehow Disney “talk” is in it. One thing that comes up a lot in my Disney conversation is my love for the parks and how I want to visit all of them. Sometimes you’ll get a “really” or “sounds interesting” or even a “nice” (and my son things it would be “awesome”), but a lot of the time people look at me in disbelieve. But there are those people who not only love the idea, but have already fulfilled this dream.

Visiting every Disney theme park in the world may seem like an odd life goal for a child-free 30-something, but a wise person once said “for those who understand, no explanation is necessary; for those who don’t, none will do.” (The Salt Lake Tribute)

Goodbye Audio Animatronics

Monday, June 16th, 2008

If you say Audio Animatronics its very likely you will use Disney in the same sentence. Walt pretty much invented the figures, improved them and made it part of Disney’s most important inheritance. Imagineers have been updating, re-inventing and shown the world some amazing new advanced Audio Animatronincs. Look at the road it made from using the term for the very first time in 1961, opening the Enchanted Tiki Room in 1963 and the trademark filed in 1964. Look at the New York fair (again 1964) with the Audio Animatronic of Lincoln, It’s a Small World, Carousel of Progress and a list that kept on growing and growing every year with rides as Pirates of the Caribbean to Lucky the Dinosaur and up to Toy Story Midway Mania today…

This weekend however a internal memo where Disney informed employees that they will start outsourcing some of their Audio Animatronics to third parties was forwarded to OC Register.

One million views and counting! Time to celebrate ClickMagique’s PicParade

ClickMagique’s PicParade is loaded with more then 8000 Disney related pictures and recently had the honors of the 1.000.000th picture being blended in. Only the pictures that are actually opened will be counted, so we can honestly say that this is an impressive result. This result can only by accomplished because of you, the fans and visitors, so a big thank you for sharing your pictures on ClickMagique’s PicParade and a big thank you to all visiting and looking at the pictures too.

The picture that was blended in on 1.000.000 was the picture of Tigger walking past “It’s a Small World” waiving at the photographer in Disneyland Resort Paris. A very nice picture to celebrate this mile stone. But it isn’t enough. We want more!

Are the Disney Fans Wrong?

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Hong Kong Disneyland has opened their version of “It’s a Small World” only days ago. Their version differences itself from other worldwide version by adding 38 Disney Characters to the classic ride. Disney fans and purist where horrified by the idea that a classic ride would contain Disney Characters. Especially since the news came out the Disney company would be adding the same Disney characters in the Disneyland Anaheim version. Disney fans stood up and let themselves be heard by expressing their thoughts and feelings all over the web about the upcoming changes Disney wants to do. (Example Save the Rainforest website). They didn’t like it…

Soaking Wet Videos from Hong Kong Disneyland

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

mickeyhonkkongparadwaterworks1.jpgMickey’s Waterworks is the new parade for Hong Kong Disneyland. As it might be a little far to go too and visit the park for the moment (at least for me it is) I’ll try to catch some of the magic on the web.

On YouTube 2 videos have appeared from the new parade; looks like fun… and a little wet too.

You can find the videos here; (Version 1 and Version 2) (via Screamscape)

Chow Yun Fat visits Hong Kong Pirateland

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

chowyunfat-hkdl1.jpgFrom May 4 to June 30, 2007, Adventureland has been transformed into Pirateland celebrating the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. To support the Pirates at Hong Kong Disneyland Chow Yun Fat made a visit.

Chow Yun Fat, who plays the pirate Sao Feng in the upcoming movie Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End, visited Hong Kong Disneyland to experience the totally new Pirate Takeover.

When Chow Yun Fat came aboard the Pirates franchise (you get it, came aboard – Sorry for the silliness) I totally geek-ed out. Chow Yun Fat is my favorite actor and has been for a very long time. All you Disney fans, if you like his acting take the time to find some of his other great work. I know some don’t like to watch movies that are not taped in English, but give it a chance. Some of his best work include; “Hard Boiled” (my favorite), “The Killer”, “God of Gamblers”, “A Better Tomorrow” and “Crouching tiger, Hidden Dragon”, however there are a lot more. (Warning, the list above might be rated, check if the movie is appropriate for the persons watching them)

Disney Parks Dominate Theme Park Attendance Report

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

It will be no surprise to anybody that the Disney parks are doing very well and are well present in the top 25 Theme Park Attendance Report. The list is from all parks in the world.

1 Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World – 16,640,000 – up 3.0%
2 Disneyland – 14,730,000 – up 1.2%
3 Tokyo Disneyland – 12,900,000
4 Tokyo DisneySea – 12,100,000
5 Disneyland Paris – 10,600,000
6 Epcot – 10,460,000 – up 5.5%
7 Disney-MGM Studios – 9,100,000 – up 5.0%
8 Disney’s Animal Kingdom – 8,910,000 up 8.6%
13 Disney’s California Adventure – 5,950,000 – up 2.1%
18 Hong Kong Disneyland – 5,200,000

The Walt Disney Studios in Paris didn’t make it on the list with 2,200,000 visitors. I wonder if this will change once the Toon Studios and Tower of Terror will open.

The Disney Water Parks are doing well too. Typhoon Lagoon is on the first place (yeah) with 2,050,000 visitors, up 6.6% and Blizzard beach comes in second with 1,880,000 visitors, up 5.4%

Mousekingdom Blog… YEAR ONE!

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

happybirthdayblog.jpgYes! We did it. One year later: the Mousekingdom Blog can celebrate its very first year of operation!

What a ride it has been so far (and there is no intention at all stopping this ride now). We can celebrate this blog and I will do so with a little pat on the back as we have worked hard to make it what it is today.

Of course there are many people I would like to thank after this first year of blogging…

Two Penguins and the “It’s a Small World” Logo

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

hkdsmallworld1.jpgOver at Hong Kong Disneyland Michelle Kwan has revealed the new It’s a Small World logo together with two penguin dolls that will be part of a full Small World “dolls” cast. The new attraction is scheduled to open in 2008

Check out the Hong Kong Disneyland Source website for more pictures and information on the new attraction.

Janitor Mickey

Monday, January 8th, 2007

janitormickey-hkdlsource1.jpgMagic can be found in all corners while at Disney. Cast Members are a big part of this magic, they can bring an extra smile onto a child’s face. The picture here shows a janitor playing around in the park and building his own (not so) hidden Mickey. It’s these things that make the Disney Parks so extra special

Picture is taken in Hong Kong Disneyland and comes from the HKDL source website. Well spotted!
