Trip Diaries Day Twelve: Relax

Monday, January 16th, 2012

So we have the sea and we have the sun. What does that add up too? That’s right; a whole lot of relaxing fun. As you can see a Disney holiday doesn’t always have to be running from one ride to another (not that this is possible at Vero Beach), it can be just as fun enjoying the pool and the weather. It’s pretty much all we did this day.

In the late afternoon we did get to wander around a little bit to enjoy the wonderful view of the ocean. It’s like a beautiful dream you don’t want to stop. I did do some picture taking and just love the sign with all the Disney vacation Club locations. It’s these things that make Disney just that little more special than any other location.

In the evening we went to Sonya’s, the upscale restaurant at the resort. Nice menu and it wasn’t easy to pick something as there were a couple of good things on there. After talking the waiter and asking for some advice I finally went for the scallops and it was amazing. We had a great seating area to. At the back where there are only about 5 tables. Very nice place to eat and I highly recommend it.

I’ll leave it with this short update for this day and let you enjoy the sights on some of the pictures. Be back for more, especially to read how to celebrate New Year eve at Disney’s Vero Beach.

Trip Diaries Day Five: Hot Hot Hot…

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

It was a new record for Orlando with 85, a great time to be at Walt Disney World. It felt like a summer day! Another early start, just after rope drop, at Epcot. Soarin already had a hour line (even if it said 40 minutes it looked like a lot more once in the queue). As we don’t like long queues we were going to save that one for another day. We could not get fastpasses for it as we already got test Track once. We had enough time for Ellen’s Energy Adventure before going on Test Track. It was packed at Test Track with 50 minutes wait (and even 40 minutes on the single riders line), but our Fastpasses took us right in. Still one great ride that will need to be done some more times during this trip.

We continued to enjoy the park by wandering into Showcase (including one of those relaxing “Friendship” boat rides). Had an early lunch in Japan before going to Norway and Mexico to enjoy the rides over there. After that we did some games at Innoventions before heading back for our usual afternoon swim. Getting up early to hit the parks is paying off as we can do a lot before the big crowds.

The late afternoon started in Downtown Disney with some shopping as my son wanted extra Lego and a couple of Lego men to play with. There is some really great Lego stuff out there I wouldn’t mind owning (or playing with). Checked some more shops before we headed back for late dinner at Olivia’s in Old Key West.

Trip Diaries Day two: Welcome Home

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

Today we were going to go to Walt Disney World, but before we left the great Villas of Grand Cyprus we wanted to go for one more swim. With the morning weather being a little cold we opted out and went to play some more golf instead (I could get used to this kind of live). Then we checked out and made our way to Walt Disney World. Unfortunately we ran into a little problem during check in. One of my linked reservations only had one name and not my whole family on it. It took about 1 hour to solve it all and we still need to change the key the next day, but the Cast Members where fantastic and tried their best to solve it as good and fast as they can. Things like this can happen and the “Welcome Home” already put me in the best mood, nothing could hurt my day.

Once we got our annual passes sorted we went to our room to get changed and do some swimming before making our way to our first Disney park for this trip. Epcot was the easy choice for us. It’s our favorite and we hoped to do a couple of rides before going to the Disney Vacation Club membership drink. Little did we know as we found queues of 120 minutes for Test Track. With no more FastPass for later, test track was going to be a No-No for today. We did get to see the Canada movie before going to the DVC drink at the Showcase pavilion. What a great venue! The free drinks where a little blah, but as they are free we should not complain. Got ourselves some Limited Annual Passes Christmas Disney pins before leaving the party and do some more of the Showcase attractions. France and Norway where the once we had time for before we had to go to the Grand Floridian. We had some dinner reservations at Citricos, a favorite of ours, and didn’t want to miss it. A great meal and great service, but I find it a little pricy. I know it’s a top notch restaurant, but we found it a little high. I know, we should know and understand (they are Disney prices), but for some reason it troubled us this time. I might have to cancel out second visit to this restaurant for this trip…

Working For the Mouse in Hawaii

Friday, May 13th, 2011

Looking for a job and want to work for the mouse? How about applying for a position at their newest Disney Vacation Club location in Hawaii! Disney will be filling in about 800 positions for their Disney’s Aulani Resort. For those interested in a position at the new resort can apply via the Disney career website. Disney will also be present at the WorkForce 2011 job fair on May 18. Disney will provide information about the resort and the job opportunities during the event. They will not accept applications during the WorkForce event as those are only accepted via their website for Aulani Jobs.

It is expected that Disney will fill a lot of the positions in May and June, but new jobs could be added to the site all the way up to December.

WorkForce will be held on May 18 in Neal S. Blaisdell Center

Disney’s Vero Beach… Booked!

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Do you remember the day you walked into one of the Disney parks… Was it love at first side? I am sure many of the readers here know what I am talking about. Most of us have set foot in the park to fall head over heals in love.

Well, the same happened during our last trip to Florida when we visited Disney’s Vero Beach. We fell in love with the place. It was going to be a one of, but the love is to strong and we had to add it to our next trip. So our Walt Disney World trip is starting to take form, with a portion of the Old Key West booking already done, Disney’s Vero Beach was the next bit we had to book. Checked our Disney Vacation Club points, did a quick calculation and where able to add 4 nights at this wonderful resort.

Make sure to visit the blog regularly as I will add pictures from the resort and from the other locations in and around Walt Disney World and Florida, including some trip reports too, once we are there.

Disney Vacation Club Vinylmation

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Disney Vacation Club members and Vinylmation collectors will have the chance  to add an exclusive to their collection. As of September 24 a new figure will be sold in Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Although I try to stay away from yet another collectible item I must admit that I have a weakness for the Disney Vacation Club items and one of these might find a place on my shelves.

To obtain this Vinylmation you will need to show a valid Vacation Club Membership ID.

Special Sales Day at World of Disney

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

If you like shopping and you like discounts then you should put a note on your calendar. On July 24 World of Disney at Downtown Disney has a special and exclusive sales day set up for Walt Disney World annual and seasonal passholders and Disney Vacation Club members. All you need to do is turn up at the doors early in the morning with your pass and ID and get some deals for up to 50% discount. The event starts at 6:30 and ends at 9am.

That’s early, but might well be worth it.

The first 1000 people entering the shop will get a special gift. Early arrival is advised as this will be popular for sure. I know I would be there if I could.

Working on the Beach

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Vero Beach is a wonderful Disney Vacation Club location where the private beach area is one of the main reasons to visit. It’s a magical place me and my family fell in love with, but I wonder if a closed or partly closed beach might have a big impact on it. Luckily this doesn’t happen a lot but for those guest visiting or planning to go in February 2010 might feel that impact as Indian River County will start working on a critical nourishment project where the beach might not be accessible at all. Members and guest will be directed to public beaches during there stay. Those that did plan a visit in early February will get a letter from Disney regarding the beach accessibility during the weekdays. On weekends the beach will be open.

Trip Report: Location, Location, Location

Friday, November 20th, 2009

VeroBeach17sLocation, location, location… it’s important for everybody. If you buy a house for yourself, buy to let or if you go on holiday. Choosing a Disney Vacation Club location is no difference. You want the best place with all the fun and good stuff Disney is known for. So how to choose one place for your trip? Not always easy, so why not pick multiple places and move around a little. You’ll get to know the places and get your favorites picked by the end of the holiday.

On our last trip we got to stay at three of Disney’s Vacation Club resorts. So I though let’s compare them and share my thoughts on these three. Why my favorite is indeed my favorite and what other DVC location I would still want to visit and could be in the running to change my favorite in the future.

Disney’s Hawaii Resort

Friday, October 17th, 2008

Disney presented their plans to the media regarding their Hawaii Theme resort. The resort was announced about 1 year ago and will start to greet their first guest somewhere in 2011. There will be 350 hotel rooms and 480 Disney Vacation Club timeshare units. The Honolulu Advertiser has a great news video where you can gaze upon a nice model of the hotel and the waterpark that flows between it.

Booked II

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Second part of our holiday in August 2009 has been booked. 5 Extra nights in Animal Kingdom Villas Kidani, Savannah View .

A total of 14 nights at the most magical place on earth. Now it’s waiting to book the Vero Beach part of the holiday and the extra days in greater Orlando. Tips for those days are always welcome.

The only worry I have is the 24 hour construction work that will be going on at the Animal Kingdom Villas. I hope they will not be to disturbing, otherwise this might have been a mistake! (I’m sure it will be OK).

Big Plans and Big Money equals Real Disney Quality!

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

dca-future1.jpgDisney Californian Adventure has had a lot of heat from the fans, the media and from the pro’s. Disney has been updating the park and has been looking at options to improve it but now it seems that DCA is ready for a big change… a very big change, a One Billion dollars change! (give or take a couple of dollars).

The change is part of a bigger plan to enhance Disney Theme parks where a total of 1,5 billion will also improve other gates, will give Disneyland Hotel a face-lift and will bring Disney Vacation Club to Anaheim.

Contemporary Resorts Artwork

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

There have been several rumors about the Contemporary Resort new wing; A new Disney Vacation Club location for Walt Disney World, not a Disney Vacation Club location, artwork found, not the artwork that will be used, etc… Disney didn’t put any official words out so far and even if most believe it is going to be the new DVC location we will only be 100% sure when Disney says so. Until then we can enjoy the rumors and artwork that pops up on the web.

The above artwork was send to screamscape.
