Relaxing Inside the WDW Parks

Wednesday, April 29th, 2015

TTApeoplemover

It can be overwhelming visiting the Walt Disney World parks. Busy crowds, long queues, hot weather (or big wet showers).  You can avoid it by staying at the hotel pools, but if you are at Walt Disney World you just want to hit the parks. Even if they are busy.
So what to do if you really, REALLY want to relax and still be inside the parks. It is possible!

River1How about we start in the Magic Kingdom. What is more relaxing than the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover. A nice 10 minute ride around Tomorrowland and it includes some great views of the beautiful Cinderella Castle. You can ride it early in the morning, or try to board it at night during the fireworks. That gives it an extra dimension. Who knows, if you’re lucky, like I was on my last visit, it might break down on the right spot and you can see the whole firework show from the best spot. Another relaxing ride, but a little more crowded, is the Walt Disney World Railroad. Ride around the park and relax. Or if the water is more relaxing your alternative for a relaxing ride will be the Liberty Square Riverboat. (more…)

Walt Disney World

Friday, December 16th, 2011

It has been a while… Well it has been way to long, but we are still here. Let’s just say it has been a hectic time where posting on the blog came to a stop. But what better time to revise the blog with some live updates from Walt Disney World itself. We are not there yet, but a trip is very close. It’s actually so close I can taste it. Well, maybe not taste it, but surely feel some butterflies in my tummy. In a couple of days we will be in Orlando and a couple of days later we will be at Walt Disney World. So what’s the plan! Live picture updates from the parks!!! Well, not 100% live of course. Updates will come at the evening, after we had fun in and around the Disney parks. So add us to your favorites and make sure to come and visit us a lot in the coming weeks and celebrate Christmas and New Year in Disney style.

Make sure to ad our twitter account and our facebook account to your favorites too

Stitch’s Short Celebration

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

StitchElvisThere have been some rumors on the web about this but now it looks as it is official; Stitch’s Supersonic Celebration in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is closing down on June 27.

That’s only about 2 months after the opening of the new show. The first show took place on May 5th.

Although Disney officials would not give specifics on why the attraction that debuted just six weeks ago will close, they did say the theme park “regularly evaluates and adjusts” its attractions and sometimes eliminates them. (Bizjournals)

D23 … Step by Step II

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

OK, so before reading this entry make sure to read what Dirk thinks about the D23 club so far in D23 … Step by Step… Done? Good! Now here is what I think about D23…

I became member on day 1, mainly because I am a Disney geek and whatever Disney does I’ll go for it. I love Disney, especially the parks, and when Disney put something on the market they can be sure that my money will leave my pocket and end up in their account. It was no different with D23 and once the site got live (I gazed at the white screen for a couple of times before it did) I got myself the charter membership… Living in Europe it set me back the $120 Dirk already talks about, but I had big hope and wanted to get my hand on some of the exclusive merchandise. Once I got my login information I visited the D23 shop. As a collector of Disney things I wanted to make sure to get the special D23 Tinker Bell Pin. It was the first in a series of ten, a series I was going to collect myself. So I went to the site, clicked on the pin and started to go to the checkout procedure…

Awesome Aerial Picture of Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

johnnyupsidedown-rockit

While the Mousekingdom Blog is all about the magical world of Disney we can’t help ourself to sometimes talk about some other great stuff in the world of theme parks. For me that’s especially true when it comes to Roller Coasters. It’s never been a secret that I love Island of adventure too (although Harry Potter could change this feeling as I am not a fan of that change in the park), and when visiting Walt Disney World, a visit to the Universal Parks is a given. However, Universal Studios has not been on my list of favorites. Nor me or my family are a fan of the park and the only reason I returned there in 2007 was because of my love for Halloween Horror Night. But… then they came up with Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit and I have been following the project from the beginning. Now, I can’t wait to return to Universal on our next trip to try that monster! All it needed to convince me to visit their park again was too add a great coaster (See how easy I am pleased).

So why this long introduction? Here is one awesome picture from the new ride, taken from a helicopter above the Studios. You can find the big version on the Johnnyupsidedown.com site. Not only will you be able to gaze on the fantastic photo, but you can also follow the work done on the coaster on the site. There are always a great set of construction pictures added on regular basis. Enjoy the ride…

Typhoon Lagoon Reopens

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

typhoonlagoon-s01After being closed for a lengthly 6 months Typhoon Lagoon has finally reopened to the public. The main reason for the long closure was said to be because of mayor works on the big wave pool. Other work might have been done too.

Typhoon Lagoon is one of my favorite parks, it even beats some of your “regular” gates, so I am really looking forwards visiting the park on my next trip. Because that’s still about 6 months away, I would love to hear from those visiting the water park before me and let me know about any of the changes that are visible.

Seen anything different at Typhoon Lagoon? Let me know…

Apple Store

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Could it be that the loss of Virgin Megastore in Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World will be compensated with the coming of a new Apple Store? If this rumor is correct this would be the biggest Apple store around. Apple would sell hardware, but also Multimedia items just like Virgin did. The rumor has been there before but with Virgin closing their stores the rumor has popped up again…

Star Wars: The Final Four

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

carbonitedonaldDuring the Star Wars Weekends in Walt Disney World Hollywood Studios fans will have another chance to own 4 more Star Wars Disney Character statues. The final four of the series include Mickey Luke, Minnie Leia, Goofy Chewie, and Donald in Carbonite.

Donald in Carbonite was a great choice! I can well imagine he would annoy Jabba so much, ending up in Carbonite. Also the Minnie figure looks awesome. The figures will go on sale around the second week of June and will have a limited edition size of only 600. 500 will be sold in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, while the other 100 will be shipped to Disneyland.

Interesting titbit is that this are being advertised as the final four of the series. What will be the special merchandise in 2010? (Or could it be the end of the Star Wars weekend?) We will have to wait and see.

Star Wars Weekend dates 2009
May 22-24
May 29-31
June 5-7
June 12-14

It has been almost three years (it will be in February) since we started to bring you Disney news, Disney fun, Disney stories, Disney tidbits and hopefully a whole lot of Disney magic (seen from different points of view) in the last 1000 blog entries.

We would like to thank all of our readers, visitors, Disney fans and guests for coming to our pages. Without you we could not do this. So thank you for your visits and support. Also a big thank you to Disney for bringing us the magic every day. Without Disney we would also be not here. And a special thank you to all the Disney Cast Members who are the heart of the Disney parks.

We hope you will come back for many more visits to our blog to share our love for Disney. Up to the 10.000 now… so spread the word about this blog and thank you again (to everybody reading this)

Cinderella Castle Royal Suite in 2009

Friday, December 26th, 2008

casltesuite2009stayThe year of a million dreams promotion might be at its end but the possibility to stay at the Cinderella Castle suite at Walt Disney World is not. You can still win a stay at the suite in 2009, although the chances might be a little slimmer (even more) as the room will only be used on a more limited basis.

The room will continue to be available for use as the prize for promotions, including some run by outside companies. For starters, the room is being offered as a prize in a sweepstakes called “Inside Your Celebration,” organized by the Internet travel portal Orbitz. (Orlando Sentinel)

Walt Disney World Tips; Hotel Hopping

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Walt Disney World is more then 4 theme parks and 2 water parks (although some even forget about the amazing water parks). But there is so much more to do and explore. Just have a look at some of the awesome hotels and what they have to offer. You don’t have to stay at the hotel to enjoy their beauty or magic. All you need to do is take a bus or even a stroll and you can have some extra fun so many people don’t even know or forget about.

With the parks always busy, visiting some of the hotels during your Walt Disney World stay could be a nice and relaxing experience. Here are some tips on visiting some of the hotels and what you could do there.

Cypress Gardens Doomed?

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Cypress Gardens opened its gates on January 2, 1936 and offered visitors water Ski Shows, beautiful gardens and Southern Belle models. No wonder it became one of Florida’s biggest attractions. But it hasn’t been easy all the time. Once Walt Disney World opened it got one of its biggest competitors taking over the many Florida guests and a rocky future started to take form. The real problems however started after 9/11, declining tourism didn’t help the park and there was even talks about developing the property into condominiums.

Damages created by three hurricanes (Charley, Frances, and Jeanne) didn’t help either and bills run up until Adventure Park Group had no choice but to file for Chapter 11. Today Cypress Gardens is under management by the Baker Leisure Group, but it doesn’t look like it will last for long as some grimm rumors are popping up of a closure of the main park, only leaving the Water Park “Splash Island” open.

…the owners would simply just announce that the park was closed one day this winter and begin the process of selling off and removing all of the park rides without warning. (Screamscape)

Happy Halloween Everybody

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Halloween; I love it. It is my favorite holiday. So I am a little sad I can’t be at Mickey’s not so scary Halloween Party or at either Universal Halloween Horror Night and Bush Garden’s Howl-O-Scream. Unfortunately I will not be there next Halloween either. The reason for that is I will be at Walt Disney World in August (So I shouldn’t be to sad about it) and going back that early in October wont happen (unless some miracle happens). For all those who are enjoying some Halloween in the parks; have fun and let us know how you liked the festivities.

Happy Halloween Everybody!

T-Rex

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

The new T-Rex cafe has opened in Downtown Disney. For those loving Dinosaurs a new “must do” when visiting Walt Disney World.

The restaurant will be on our to do list for our August 2009 trip. I’ll tell everybody that my son wants to see the dinosaurs (but you all know it’s me who can’t wait to get in there).

You can find a nice selection of pictures on the Orlando Sentinel blog from opening day and from the inside of the new restaurant. Although I haven’t seen it in person yet, I already love the look of the Ice Room.

Warning to all parents though; There is a Discovery Dig playground. For those who visited the Boneyard in Animal Kingdom already know that it will not be easy to get your kids out of there.

If you’ll be visiting the T-Rex Cafe in the next couple of days let us know how you liked it.

Booked II

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Second part of our holiday in August 2009 has been booked. 5 Extra nights in Animal Kingdom Villas Kidani, Savannah View .

A total of 14 nights at the most magical place on earth. Now it’s waiting to book the Vero Beach part of the holiday and the extra days in greater Orlando. Tips for those days are always welcome.

The only worry I have is the 24 hour construction work that will be going on at the Animal Kingdom Villas. I hope they will not be to disturbing, otherwise this might have been a mistake! (I’m sure it will be OK).
