Fantasmic

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Tokyo DisneySea will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a new show ”Fantasmic”. This is now confirmed by the Oriental Land Co., Ltd. The new show will premiere in April 2011 to kick of the celebration of DisneySea’s anniversary, which is on September 4th.

The picture already promises that the show will be spectacular. Looking at the brooms walking up the mountain, one can already start dreaming on how Disney will make this work. Knowing Disney, I am very confident it will look amazing. The show will take place at night in Mediterranean Harbor and will feature Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The show will have scenes from Aladdin, Cinderella and Finding Nemo incorporated. A big battle between Mickey and a gigantic dragon will be the highlight of the show.

The new “Fantasmic” show will replace the BraviSEAmo show that is currently running.

The official announcement can be found here.

cinderellaThe history of Walt Disney is one interesting road. If one didn’t think so before then I think the gallery previous have proven that now. I really hope this museum turns into the success in deserves and that many Disney fans will enjoy this amazing historic story. I can’t wait to see it all myself, I just hope I don’t have to wait to long to visit. Until I do make it out there I’ll keep on enjoying the galleries.

Future Fantasyland Blueprint

Monday, July 20th, 2009

FantasylandBleuprint1Plans have leaked on the internet regarding big changes for Fantasyland. While the classic ride will remain in Fantasyland, there is a lot of new stuff to be found on the plans too. One popular ride, with queue reaching boiling limited of every parent, will even get a twin. Dumbo ride will be cloned in the park to shorten the waiting time for those kids that won’t take a “no” for an answer when it come to riding the beloved attraction. The twin ride will be moved to the back of the park and will be part of a complete change of the Toon Town area. Dumbo will also take over the train station. The Barnstormer Coaster will be the only ride remaining (but could it be turned into the rumored Seven Dwarfs Mine Train), all other Toon Town attractions and buildings will have to make place for new stuff. One of the main themes will be Pixie Hollow with meet and greet area and a playzone.

D23 … Step by Step II

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

OK, so before reading this entry make sure to read what Dirk thinks about the D23 club so far in D23 … Step by Step… Done? Good! Now here is what I think about D23…

I became member on day 1, mainly because I am a Disney geek and whatever Disney does I’ll go for it. I love Disney, especially the parks, and when Disney put something on the market they can be sure that my money will leave my pocket and end up in their account. It was no different with D23 and once the site got live (I gazed at the white screen for a couple of times before it did) I got myself the charter membership… Living in Europe it set me back the $120 Dirk already talks about, but I had big hope and wanted to get my hand on some of the exclusive merchandise. Once I got my login information I visited the D23 shop. As a collector of Disney things I wanted to make sure to get the special D23 Tinker Bell Pin. It was the first in a series of ten, a series I was going to collect myself. So I went to the site, clicked on the pin and started to go to the checkout procedure…

From Lincoln to Heffalump and the TOWER of TERROR

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Joel McNeely – who is Joel McNeely? Well, have you seen one of the many direct-to-dvd/video releases of the The Walt Disney Studios released in the recent years? Then chances are high you enjoyed some of the scores he composed for releases such as Cinderella III: A Twist in Time (2007), The Fox and the Hound 2 (2006), Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch (2005), Mulan II (2004), The Jungle Book 2 (2003) or Return to Neverland (2002). But his work can also be heared in sevearl big screen releases of Walt Disney Pictures such as Pooh’s Heffalump Movie (2005),  Holes (2004), America’s Heart and Soul (2004) and other releases such as The Avengers (1998) or Air Force One (1997).

Unfortunately most of his work for Disney features, in particular for the direct-to-DVD/video sequels was never officially released on CD - which is a shame, since his work for Return to Neverland (the sequel to Disney’s Peter Pan), Mulan II and The Fox and Hound 2 which has been released (at least partially) on Walt Disney Records clearly shows a great ability to come up with impressive scores fitting the very different needs of these features but also entertaining enough to be listened to on its own without the movie. But there is a special treat to be found online…

No More Embarrassing Sequels

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

cinderellaiii-cover.jpgGreat news for all Disney animation fans; there will be no more “make a quick buck” direct on DVD sequels anymore. It’s back to quality originals.

In a major strategy shift, the Walt Disney Co. said Friday that it will stop making lucrative direct-to-DVD sequels of such classic animated films as “Cinderella,” a move that reflects the growing influence of former Pixar Animation executives John Lasseter and Steve Jobs, who once called the films “embarrassing.” (The News Tribune)

Most fans will agree that this is great news. Let us hope that the future of Disney animation will bring us many new classics like we had in the past. Nobody will miss out on yet another Cinderella spin of. Two thumbs up from me!

One Reporter with $587 Equals 1 Night at the Suite

Monday, February 19th, 2007

What do you do when you’re a reported and the AP picks up the tab of $587 to get and sleep in the Cinderella Castle suite at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World… You go and enjoy a day most people can only dream of. While the stay in the suite is the real price I must say that the fact that you can have a wander around the closed park sounds awesome…

I do literally have the park to myself, but there’s not much to do in it because the rides are closed. Everything remains lit up as if it were packed, and piped-in Disney music fills the air. (Sun-Sentinel)

Well, I guess he is no “real” Disney fanatic. I would not need anything to do when I would be given the chance to walk in the park by myself. I would enjoy the sights of the park and would feel amazing at such opportunity. Wandering the park, alone, with all the lights on and with the Disney Music keeping you company… Sounds great! Read the whole article for some other fun things that was part of this “magical moment”

John from “The Disney Blog” makes a good point when he says that this could backfire as there is no information on how this was possible or done by Disney, giving the wrong impression people are able to buy themselves into being a winner…

The first “Royal” family

Friday, January 26th, 2007

The first Guests of the Cinderella Castle Suite at Walt Disney World have been welcomed by the host Cinderella herself. The family was picked randomly by a computer program. Brad, the son of the winning family, was lucky enough to be seated in row 2, seat 8, simulator number 4 in the Star Tours Attraction

While the family might have been picked randomly the rest looks all to staged (again). Put on your Disney clothes and your Disney ears and let’s shoot some pictures. Non the less I am sure they had a great time. I know I would (and I wear Disney Clothing all the time – just not the Disney ears).

“We were all just shocked,” said Jim Fouch, an IBM information technology support specialist in Lansing. “You never expect anything like this.”

They were staying at Disney’s All Star Resort and Thursday night was to be their last, until they were offered a chance to make Disney World history. (Orlando Sentinel)

Cinderella Castle Suite Tour

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

castletour.jpgEric Jacobson and Cathy Carver, two Walt Disney World Imagineers, are giving a tour of the Cinderella Castle Suite over at the Orlando Sentinel Website.

They explain how this is not just a room to stay but will be an experience to remember. Some nice things are shown like the glass slipper, the “towel” slipper and some nice view of some of the other decorations.

I so would love to stay there myself one day…

Spoof (Mock, Satirize, Lampoon, Parody, Caricature, Make Fun Of…)

Friday, November 24th, 2006

disneysb.jpglionsgatehna.jpgWe all love Disney and its movies and Theme Parks (we would not be on this site otherwise) and make the Disney Dream a little (or big) part of our daily live. With Disney being a big player others also like to use Disney to spoof and joke with to enhance their product or story. And let’s be honest, the best jokes and spoofs you can laugh with are from a product you know or love yourself. It is the part that makes you understand the joke and that makes you laugh. Just imagine there would be no Disney… how many other movies (and parks or products) would not exist.

Cinderella’s Suite comes with TV and great Park View

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

castlemagicinpixels.jpgThe Orlando Sentinel has some details and information on the Cinderella suite inside the castle at the Magic Kingdom that will welcome lucky winners of the “Year of a Million Dreams” celebration at Walt Disney World for a sleep over. The burning questions for some was what would there be to do while staying at the Castle.

“Do they have television? I mean, what is there to do up there, for kids?” she asked. “Especially overnight. That’s going to be a long night, you know.”

Yes, there will be TV. Yes, it looks as if the family will be shut in after the theme park closes for the night. And yes, a butler (known as a comte du cierge in old French), will be at their call.

Famous Princesses in Shrek the Third Movie

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

It looks like the princesses are no longer having an exclusive contract with Disney anymore as some of them now appear in the upcoming third Shrek movie from DreamWorks Animation. While we already had some “Disney” fun in the first one it looks like we will be getting some more in the third one.

PrincessesOfShrek.jpg

In Shrek the Third, Princess Fiona (center, voice of Cameron Diaz) is joined by (left to right) obsessive-compulsive Cinderella (voice of Amy Sedaris), prissy-but-sarcastic Snow White (voice of Amy Poehler), opinionated Rapunzel (voice of Maya Rudolph), and narcoleptic Sleeping Beauty (voice of Cheri Oteri), who prove that they aren’t your everyday princesses.
