Finding Dory in Japan

Tuesday, May 19th, 2015

Pixar is giving us a new Nemo adventure on the big screen but the Oriental Land Company is giving their guests a new Nemo attraction in the parks. OLC has just announced the new attraction for Tokyo DisneySea. The attraction will be themed to the well beloved Finding Nemo movie and the upcoming Finding Dory movie. The ride will be created with the help of the Finding Nemo movie production staff. They will be helping with the visuals of the new experience.

NemoRide2The ride will be placed in the Port Discovery section of the park. It will replace the existing StormRider simulator. The StormRider attraction is set to close in May 2016 so construction for the new Nemo ride can start with a target opening planned for Spring 2017.

The attraction will take place in a submarine. Guests taking place inside the sub will shrink to the size of the fish around them and will then be taken on an adventure by Nemo and Dory.

Animation Nominations

Friday, January 11th, 2013

We all know that Disney brings out some of the best animations, so it will come to no surprise Disney has some nominations. In the United Kingdom the BAFTA Award nominations have been released. Here Disney has 2 chances to win the price. Both Brave and Frankenweenie are on the short list. They are up against only one more movie in their category. The third nominee is Paranorman.

Disney does even a little better on the Oscar list. Besides Brave and Frankenweenie are on the list, but also Wreck-It Ralph got nominated. The Oscar list is a little bigger with a total of 5 nominations. 3 of them from Disney, Paranorman is also on it and the final name on the list is The Pirates! Band of Misfits.

WDW Planning Part 1: How Far Do You Plan in Advance?

Saturday, July 14th, 2012

When it comes to a Disney trip, planning is part of the fun. It not only give you that knowledge you’ll be going, but you will have some Disney magic going for you before the trip itself. Most trips might get planned a couple of months in advanced, but when it comes to a Walt Disney World trip, planning can start a lot earlier. Sometimes over a year in advance! At least that’s how I work when it comes to planning a WDW trip.

First question of course is when to go. In my family’s case options are limited because of school time. So our trip needs to be molded around that for most of the time. That gives us two options for our next trip.

Option one; A trip during Christmas and New year 2013/2014.

Option two; A trip starting from the middle of June 2014.

No, no! Those dates are correct. Our next family trip will be somewhere in 2013 and/or 2014. Is that planning it to far ahead? It looks far away and one might feel a little sad if you still have to wait that long but when you look at it from the bright side, with this early planning, I’ll be having a lot of fun.

So there are 2 possible dates as I mentioned before. This could be the last two weeks of December and a week in January or it could be the last two weeks on June and the first week in July. Both dates have their advantages and disadvantages. Heavy Christmas crowds can be a little daunting but you’ll be away from the summer heat while early summer period will still be low on crowds (US schools still in session, but the heat might already be a struggle. Of course there are other things to look at but these are just a couple of examples. Although we love the Christmas time (our last trip was during the holidays), the second option looks like the one we will go for this time.

So what do I plan so far in advance (once we set the date)? Although you can’t book a hotel yet looking at the locations where to stay is one of the first things I do for my family and me. As we are Disney Vacation Club Members it is also a bit of a given that this takes place so far in advance. We need to make sure to book at the 11 month window, otherwise we might not be able to get the room we want. So this is a good reason to start booking so early. Or maybe it is just another excuse to start planning over a year in advance. The hotels are a part of the Disney Magic, so it can happen that we do some Hotel hopping and stay at different resort. I would love to stay a couple of days at the new Disney’s Art of Animation resort. Just to see and experience it as it looks great. Another place I would love to stay at is either the Disney’s Beach Club Villas or the Disney’s Board Walk Villas. I love that erea and it would give me easy access to my favorite park with my favorite show; Epcot and Illuminations. But our main home resort is Old Key West, so it is no surprise that this one will be the one we will stay at the longest. Will I do have some Disney’s Animal Kingdom Vacation Club point too, we might use these for another location this time around.

More in Part two!

We Are Back

Saturday, July 14th, 2012

It has been a while since you’ve seen an update here but as you can see we are back in action.

So what happened? Why where we gone?

Well, we had to fight some technical difficulties on the blog that had forced it into a complete black-out.

It took a while to find the error, but as you can see the Mousekingdom blog is back on-line. Unfortunately we did loose some date, but that will not stop us from adding new stuff.

So if you like Walt Disney, Disney Parks, Disney movies and anything else related to the world of Disney (and more), brace yourself as we are ready for GO!…

Snow White Tattoo

Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

It has been a while since we talked about the Disney fan with the hundreds of Disney tattoos on his body. Tattoos, according to the latest update, he wanted to have removed since he found a new love. While never really being a big fan of all the tattoos, I can’t help myself to marvel at them. They are pieces of art (in some cases) and, depending on the canvas, can even be a little bit sexy.

How about this Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs tattoo on the back of Annfaye Kao, a girl from Taiwan? It took the artist Ping three months to create this brother Grimm and Disney classic. Like I said, not a big fan of tattoos, bit this one is eye candy. To protect innocent eyes I only added a link to the little more sexy pictures of the model.

Disney handwritten letter to Mickey creator and More Disney Auctions

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Live Auctioneers has a big auction coming up this weekend where Disney fans’ hearts will beat either a little harder or might even skip a couple of beats when they see the fantastic collection of items that will go under the hammer. There are to many lots to name but I picked a couple of my favorites to give you an idea on what to expect.

How about a “Complete Gladiator Costume from Tron” for those fans of the 1982 Tron movie. I know there are plenty and there is plenty in the auction from Tron for them. Other Tron items include “Tron Light Cycles print signed by Syd Mead” and a “Tron crew jacket and original press kit” among many other Tron stuff.

Want something special straight from the Disney Parks history. You could own a Lincoln bust prototype estimated $4000 to $6000. There are also some first day Disneyland opening tickets set to go for $1.500 or more. There are even some ride vehicles in the auction lot from Snow White and Mr Toad ride and an original 1962 Haunted Mansion door comings from the attraction.

With the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie coming up it’s a great moment to have some Pirates items in your auction too. This includes some amazing stuff like “Pirates of the Caribbean Keira Knightly costume”, “Johnny Depp “Capt. Jack Sparrow” stunt flintlock from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest”, “Johnny Depp “Capt. Jack Sparrow” stunt flintlock from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” and lots of other cool pirates items.

Tim Burton items are also being sold during the auction. There will be a whole lot of Original Tim Burton hand-drawn ink sketches for Vincent, but also items from Nightmare on Chistmas like a “Collection of 12 color storyboards from The Nightmare Before Christmas” and other artwork. But that’s just the beginning as there is some amazing Nightmare stuff to choose from, including original puppets and items used on the set and in the movie.

But the one and most important items will be a letter written and signed by Walt Disney himself. It’s the “Disney handwritten letter to Mickey creator” written by Disney to Ub Iwerk. This historical document is estimated $60.000 to $80.000 and has been in the hands of the Iwerks family up to now.

This letter documents a major turning point for Disney, urging Iwerks to leave Kansas City, move to Los Angeles and accept his offer to become Disney’s chief animator, marking the moment in time in which history was secured and the Master of Fantasy and the Hand Behind the Mouse came to an agreement that would ultimately change popular culture as we know it today. (Live Auctioneers)

A true gem for a real (and wealthy) Walt Disney collector

Other Disney items include animation production cells, concept art, drawings, Theme Park attraction posters, Club 33 chair, maquettes, and a lot more. There is also a big collection of other movie and TV items not related to Disney.

Auction starts on May 14 and will be divided over 2 days. Early bids can be placed via the site.

The Artists of Tangled

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

The big news earlier today regarding the upcoming animated Disney feature TANGLED was the release of the latest trailer (which turned out to be rather funny if you ask me) but what maybe should have been the bigger news – at least among those of us who are really interested in the hard work that goes into making such a feature and the artists involved in it – is another youtube video that was released today outside the official Disney channels: a look at the artists that created / are still busy creating the magic of TANGLED:

Take the 6 1/2 minutes and enjoy this look at the artists behind the scenes… it’s  no “making-off” or documentary and neither is it a trailer or sneek peek – just a fun opportunity to go face to face with the artists respectively a chance to finally add a face to some of the names from those end credits… (more…)

Art of Animation Resort… Art

New Mulan Movie

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

According to the talented actress Zhang Ziyi from one of my all time favorite movies “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, the stunning “House of Flying Daggers” and the amazing “Hero” will be playing a live Mulan version in a feature movie. Zhang Ziyi might be known even more among the western audience for her roles in “Rush Hour 2” and the Oscar winning movie “Memoirs of a Geisha”

Zhang Ziyi was not nominated for an Oscar, but she did win a BAFTA for Best Performance by an Actrice in a Leading Role, the Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture, the MTV Movie Award for Sexiest Performance. She also won the Screen Actors Guild Award and the Satellite Awards for the same movie.

Zhang Ziyi will also produce the new Mulan movie for which she said secured an investment from Disney of $100 million. The movie will be shot in 3D and will be an English version. Production should start in October.

Mulan is still my favorite Disney Animation, so I am really excited to see the movie become a live version and to have a wonderful actrice star as Mulan herself. Can’t wait to hear more about this project.

… And We Have a Winner

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Do you play those competitions you find in the paper or online and hope to be lucky enough to win something? Well, my son did. There was a competition related to the new Toy Story 3 movie. All he had to do was send a text message and pick the prize he wanted the mosts. Today, about 1 month later when we opened the post box there was an envelope with his name on it. What could it be? Who is it from?… Only when he opened the envelope he remembered the competition from a month ago. He had picked the new Wii Toy Story 3 game and that’s what he found in the postbox.

Thought it was fun to share! Now if you’ll excuse me, I am going to go and play a game of Toy Story 3.

Don’t own the game yet? How about ordering it on Amazon via this link!

Toy Story 3 Sets Box Office Record

Monday, June 21st, 2010

It’s no big surprise for this weekends box office. As expected To Story 3 would take the lead. Not only would it take the lead but it would set some records too. This sequel can now call itself the biggest Pixar opening, surpassing The Incredibles $70.5 million opening weekend record. Toy Story 3 estimated opening weekend gross is set to $109 million. This includes the IMAX 3D theaters too where it shattered the previous record for animated feature with a total of $8.4 million. The previous record was for Monsters vs. Aliens with $5.1 million.

Toy story is also Disney’s 4th movie to enter the$100+ million domestic opening weekends of all time top 10 list. This was the third movie to open over 100 million this year. Other movies that did the same in 2010 are the amazing and wonderful Alice in Wonderland and, to proof that it’s not always good movies to enter these records, so did the terrible Iron Man II (the first one was so good).

Tangled Teaser
