Will the Yeti Attack Again?

Monday, March 21st, 2011

It was one of those amazing things at Walt Disney World, the Yeti in Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom. He has lost a lot of it impact when he stopped moving and turned into a static figure for most of his lifespan so far. There seem to be some hope as the Yeti is being worked on and might find some movement back. However, rumors indicate it will not be the yeti as he used to be and movement will be a lot more limited as it was before.

Expedition Everest is still a great ride, but it would be great if the Yeti could return to its former glory.

3 Disney Parks for Shanghai

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

According the latest news Disneyland Shanghai will be getting 3 gates. Not all at once, but once the Magic Kingdom is open 2 more gates will follow. For now the plans are to add an Epcot and an Animal Kingdom park in Shanghai. Both parks will not be mirrored from Orlando but will be build around the same theme. Let’s hope it works out for Disney this time around (after all the problems in Paris and Hong Kong) and they will be able to keep these promises to Shanghai. If so, this resort will be pretty amazing.

How about Australia?

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

It has been floating on the web, the rumored expansion of Animal Kingdom with a new land. The new land is Australia and would give Disney the chance to expand the Animal Kingdom with a rumored marine life display. Animal Kingdom is already a big place, but there is enough room for this land. My concern however is the animals that could be housed here. Would Disney go and compete against SeaWorld when they add Dolphins or even Killer Whales? I don’t think so! Seaworld is already doing a great job and have established themselves as the one and true sea life marine park with shows that can hardly be competed with. However, after the Killer Whale issues and the dead in the SeaWorld park this year, would Disney even take the risk to explore that road? (more…)

Holiday (and the Disney Things I Missed During that Week)

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

So I go away for a week on a non Disney holiday and didn’t find the time to add any Disney magic on the blog during the trip. I did get to visit the comic shop in Hasselt (Belgium), Magische Poort (The Magic Gate) to get my Disney fix. If you’re ever in Belgium, make sure to visit them. (Molenpoort 5 bus 2 – 3500 Hasselt)

So, now I’m back it’s time to get back on the Disney train with the Disney news and fun. So what did I miss on this week? Disney tickets getting more expensive again. I’m sure you all know about this already so I wont bore anybody with my thoughts on this, but I do ask myself how they can higher them way above average index growth every year. I guess we Disney addicts can’t help ourself and will keep on paying the price. If we keep on going in this pace we will hit the $100 for a day ticket very soon though…

Planning the Next Disney Trip

Friday, June 11th, 2010

You can never start planning a Walt Disney World trip early enough. Not because it’s that difficult, but it’s just so much fun planning and thinking about the next trip.

With a planned trip in August 2011 we still have about 14 months to go, but as a Disney Vacation Club member the 11 month window for booking will be there soon enough.

So the first thing to plan, after dates have been picked, is the location. With our main Disney Vacation Club points being for Disney’s Old Key West it’s no surprise we will be there for the majority of our time. We can squeeze 9 days into it. That leaves me with some points from my Animal Kingdom Villas points. Although we did love the Animal Kingdom Villas, we might be using the points elsewhere.

Disney Annual Pass for all US parks

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Disney has announced what so many US Disney fans have asked for many years, an annual pass for all US Disney parks.

The Premium pass will cost $700 and will give guess the opportunity to visit all 4 Disney theme parks in Orlando, the two water parks and both Disney parks in Anaheim.

If you own annual passes for both parks you will automatically get the new premium pass.

Next step; an annual pass for all Disney theme parks globally. Too much? I know I would get one…

That One Lift Hill Picture I Want

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

It isn’t easy to get a good shot of the Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World. Even from the lift hill, as it’s best to get that camera away and protected from the high splashes that are going to come down on you. Still, I love the atmosphere of the lift hill and just want to try to get a good shot just before entering the attraction. I would love to get a picture while on the lift hill as it will make a great shot when going up and through the mist.

Personally I think this is one of the nicest wild water rivers I have been one. It’s a little short, something a lot of people comment on, but there is no other one as nice as this one out there.

Orlando locals and visitors might disagree with me and would pick the Islands of Adventure Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges as the better (and even wetter) ride, but even if this one is great, it still can’t beat Disney’s Kali River Rapids wonderful atmosphere.

Well, for now these are the best shot I could get. If you got one or know of one let me know about it so I can stare at it and dream away.

Trip Report: Pictures of a Tree

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Tree28s“You’re not going to take another picture, are you”. I heard my son saying this a couple of times on our Walt Disney World trip, especially near the end. I got my camera out every 5 minutes to take pictures, multiple pictures of the same thing, again and again. At the end it was a little too much for his liking.

But I always say “You can never have enough pictures of the Castle”! And that is so true.

While there is no castle at Animal Kingdom, there is another iconic “building” that deserves to be on multiple pictures. It’s the Tree of Life of course. (more…)

The One With the Disney T-Shirt

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

DVCOldKeyWest.jpgFinally, the wait is over! Monday we are leaving for our 3 week Florida vacation. 4 nights at Disney’s Vero Beach, 1 Night at the Marriott Resort in Orlando and then up to Old Key West and Animal Kingdom Villas to end the trip. Are we looking forwards to it? You bet ya!!!

My contribution to the blog will be limited for the time being. I do hope to get a couple of live reports in, maybe a picture here and there and a couple of stories, but I promise, once I am back to share a whole lot from our trip.

Not to worry to much though as all of the other Blog contributors will be here to give you all the Mousekingdom Magic you need. (Thank you team)

Oh, and if you see me in Walt Disney World, do come up and say hello… I’m the one in the Disney T-Shirt…

FastPass Centralized Location Tests

Monday, July 27th, 2009

DisneyFastPassThe FastPass system has been many things to different people. A big help for those that don’t like to stand in line and like to be organized making the most of their day. An eye sore for fans who thought the passes take away some of the magic that can be found in the attraction queues. Extra work for the Cast Members trying to teach the uncountable guests that don’t take the time to educate themselves about the system. And recently a new form of extra revenue to the park with the new obtainable VIP passes (in some form tested both in Hong Kong and Paris).Whatever you think about the system, today it is almost impossible to think about the park without the system in place.

To enhance the experience Disney has now entered another test face, offering Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom guest the possibility to get either a Dinosaurs, Expedition Everest or a Kilimanjaro Safaris FastPass from one dedicated place.

Vero Beach Booked

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

verobeachdisneyAnother part of our big Florida trip is booked. 4 nights at Vero Beach. Although we only booked a studio, and because I just had enough Disney Vacation Poins left, it had to be a garden view. This however doesn’t matter, even with a garden view room, we are all excited and happy to go and relax a little in the sun.

With Vero Beach now booked, Old Key West and Animal Kingdom Villas already booked a little while ago ,we now only need to book 1 more night to make the bridge from Vero Beach to our Old Key West stay.

Still seven months to go, but very excited. I can already promise to everybody visiting the blog that I’ll have tons of pictures and stories ready for all of you. Until then, any Vero Beach tips are welcome!
