I-MuckUps; the Future of the Pods

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

ApplePod1.jpg

The I-pods technology is growing fast and it doesn’t look like it will end soon. There are a whole collections of I-Goodies in the pipeline. From video iPod (vPod) to iPod/phone (iPhone) or a wireless base station for streaming movies from a computer to the TV via WiFi.

MickeyPodMuckUp1.jpgWired.com has added a collection of Pictures from what could be the next I-Pod Generation. Including widescreen video pod and a Mickey pod (muck up). Some might see the day, some might not and some will stay muck ups, but I do like the widescreen pod Idea and hope that the price is not exaggerating high.

Upcoming Pixar is also dreaming about the new I-pods and the possibilities to get all Pixar movies on them. You can also visit the Apple Collection pages to see more designs that might be out there, somewhere in the future, to buy.

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

OperaHouseDenver.jpgDisney fans and “The Little Mermaid” fans in Denver will be the first to see the new Ariel show. The new show will premiere at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in the summer of 2007.

All eyes will be on Denver to see how well the show will be received by the public before it will be playing at other locations.

Many eyes will be on Denver to see how Mermaid fares. Out-of- town tryouts, frequent in cities such as Chicago and Boston, typically draw critics and reporters from New York and around the nation. (Rocky Mountain News)

Nemo at Animal Kingdom Preview Video

Monday, August 28th, 2006

NemoYouTube.jpgOn YouTube a video has been added from a Press event that included a song from the new Nemo show at Animal Kingdom. They are having a ‘workshop like performance’ where they share a song that will be used in the show.

The song “In the Big Blue World” is performed without any of the show elements but with the question to the press to “imagine” in their heads what happens during the song. The video is about 8 minutes long and well worth checking out if you like the songs from Nemo or if you can’t wait to see the new live show at the Animal Kingdom park.

Where the Lions ROOOOAAAAR a Mouse will entertain

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

AfricaThe African continent has been the site for the smash hit and modern classic The Lion King that has become one of the great examples of the second, now already bygone, golden age of Disney animation. But it surely wasn’t the first or last time that Africa was the source for the stories told by Disney. The True Life Adventure series, Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom theme parks, Disney’s Animal Kingdom,… Africa has given a lot to Disney over the years.

Since the end of the apartheid South Africa also has become a more and more important market for Disney it being a stable democracy, offering a reliable infrastructure and being home to a relatively affluent populace in comparison to other countries on the African continent. For several years now Disney is trying to push its products in the market by various means. (more…)

Why we need to talk about … Shaggy Dog

Tuesday, July 11th, 2006

Anyone out there seen the Walt Disney Picture remake “The Shaggy Dog” starring Tim Allen? I haven’t and I guess most probably you, dear reader, have neither. While this is just an assumption, I am pretty confidend here based on how terrible the reviews were and how fast it was gone from all multiplex cinemas in my area. So why would we need to talk about it? Well, because of its soundtrack (available e.g. from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, …) - which features a score by noone else but ALAN MENKEN, composer of such eternal Disney classics as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin. Pirates’ Dance

Friday, July 7th, 2006

The countdown for the official opening of Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest in the US is down to less than 24 hours … for us in Europe unfortunately, depending on the location, the wait is still a few weeks long. But there is something to shorten the wait: the CD-single Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest REMIXES!

As posted earlier DJ Tiësto, who performed a “concert” last year in the Walt Disney Studios Paris to celebrate the opening of Space Mountain Mission 2, and has “outed” himself as a Disney-fan, has created a remix of “He’s a Pirate” from the original score by Klaus Badelt for the first movie of the trilogy, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. The CD-single features a “Tiësto Radio Edit” (4:05), a “Tiësto Remix” (7:03) and a “Tiësto Orchestral Remix” (7:03). (more…)

But now there is something new - and it is available online: the official THEME SONG for the 5th anniversary and the according video!! (more…)

Listen up …

Saturday, July 1st, 2006

Walt Disney at BBC StudiosThe British have a relationship with Disney which is unique in Europe. No other people in Europe have embraced Disney and its creations as much as a part of their life as those British… and thanks to that the British get quite some extra treats as non-Disney institutions carter to the Disney fans as well. Case in point: BBC Radio 2 which is about to kick off a four part series about the music in the worlds of Walt Disney “Ain’t No Mickey Mouse Music”. But this time ALL of us, even those outside the UK, will be able to enjoy the treat! But first of all: what will be the treat here? (more…)

The Moose are Loose… Again

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

BB-Moose.jpgThe new Brother Bear sequel will be released on august 29, like many of the Disney Part 2 movies this one will be released on Video and DVD instead of the theater. Jeremy Suarez returns as the voice of Koda, while Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas are back as the beloved moose duo, Rutt and Tuke. It will also feature three original songs from Melissa Etheridge.

I like the first movie, with the moose being the highlight. Some of their lines where so simple but so funny…

because I love… dew.
Excuse me? I don’t believe
I heard what you said.
*Sighs* I said I love… dew.
I love dew, too, eh.

It still makes me laugh. Here is a full Brother Bear Script - Dialogue Transcript
A search on Amazon.com for Brother Bear didn’t bring back the option to pre-order the new sequel on DVD yet. But check the Brother Bear Search on Amazon again to place a pre-order once available. I know I will.

Tarzan on Broadway

Monday, April 24th, 2006

TarzanDisneyMusical.jpgOn 10th May Tarzan, the musical will go live on Broadway in the Richard Rodgers Theater. Another big Disney hit becomes a Disney Theatrical production.

I remember going to New York, for business, trying to get tickets for the Lion King. “There will be tickets available in 6 months” was the answer. I guess Tarzan might also sell out for months.

Wishing for Wishes

Friday, February 24th, 2006

wishes laser logoI was just surfing the net and came across the news of Wishes. It seems that it is almost confirmed that it WILL NOT be re-appearing and there’s to be no replacement this year. What a loss!

Personally I would really like to see the show back this year… if they were to promote it more appropriately of course. Not having a firework show after Fantillusion is hardly the end of the world, but fireworks over the castle is such a Disney trademark as is widely expected by guests… I believe!

Mickey’s Colourful Future In WDS

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

PhilharmagicWooah, first blog post. Kinda scary! Well what’s really on my mind right now DLRP future… like everyone else! Buzz is just around the corner, the Toons are heading this way and The Tower Of Terror should be dropping in anytime soon - sooner rather than later I hope :-)

Then there’s the anticipated new parades, possible firework display for 2007 and the first European Disney Cruise Line rumour, but that’s all old news now! So, what’s next? If DLP.info’s reports are anything to go by, WDS could well be getting an addition in the form of Mickey’s Philharmagic. That all sounds great when you first hear it, but is removing a current, successful and popular attraction wise, just to replace it with another clone? I understand the news is far from confirmed, but removing Animagique or Cinemagique to make way for an attraction that other parks already have seems a little pointless. At least it seems DLRP know what their priorities are, since DLP is already a complete park experience.
