It looks like comics are a good investment. Imagine if you would have owned a Action Comics 1 (first Superman) or a Detective Comics 27 ( first Batman). They both have been sold in a high grade (grade 8.0 CGC for those interested) for $1.000.000 and more. Not to bad, especially if you would have been the owner. Imagine how many trips this could pay to Walt Disney World or another Disney park. Talking about comics, anybody still thinking the Marvel Disney deal was a bad thing? (although I think it’s a great deal for whole other reasons)
Disney already had its share of comics and although non of them might bring in a million anytime soon, some of them are very collectible and if found in the right grade already come with a “nice” price tag. The first daily comic strip staring Mickey Mouse began on January 13 in 1930, but the first comic books appeared in 1940. They where published by Western Publishing through the Dell Comics Four Color label. The very first Walt Disney Comics and Stories from Dell would be a very nice item in any Disney addict collection. Even if you wouldn’t want to keep it it, valued at $30.000 (Comic Price Guide at the moment this article was written) it could pay for your next trip(s). Of course this when you have a high graded issue. Damaged issues are less valuable but could still be worth $2.000.
More great figures from the New York Toy Fair. Here you can see Mickey Mouse in his Kingdom Heart 2 Attire. He is only one of the new figures from the fun game.

For those that love action figures (and who doesn’t), and love Disney movies, this is a real threat. Prince Of Persia Action figures made by McFarlane Toys. If you are an Action Figure collector you will know the quality of the McFarlane toys. They have created a lot of fun sets already like their well know Spawn Series from the same comic book, but also the Movie Monsters and the sports action figures.
McFarlane has brought their new Price of Persia figures to the New York Toy Fair. Have a look at this collection of 8 pictures to see what you can expect from them. I think they look awesome!
The New York Toy Fair has started and you can already find some great reports online with pictures of all the new and great toys. John Lasseter was at the event, posing with his Lego Head that was on display on the table, before talking about the new Toy Story Toys that will hit the shelves.
Their will be a Barbie toy as well as a Lots-O-Huggin Bear. This bear will be the first plush in the Toy Story Toys range and will responce to voice and hugs as well as smell of strawberries.
While most Disney news items or tidbits are fun and magical, occasionally one encounters a weird story. This story is about a very rare Minnie Mouse Key chain, only three of them ever made, that was stolen by a murderer from his victim.
When the key chain popped up at the suspects home the case for the investigators started to look strong and solid. This rare Disney memorabilia is now a key piece of evidence that could put a killer behind bars. To read the full story visit The Ledger website.
Want to help the people who lost everything in the disastrous earthquake in Haiti. You can do so and own a nice piece of Pixar memorabilia at the same time.
Lee Unkrich, who is currently directing Toy Story III, has set up a special auction page in cooperation with Ebay where he is selling some amazing Pixar items to help the once in need. There are Signed items including a Tom Hanks Woody Doll, original crew items and a lot more.
Here another preview gallery with more Walt Disney gems.
Walt—who had a love of nature since his youth in Marceline—also ventured into live-action documentaries during the ‘40s and early ‘50s. The first of these was a nature documentary, Seal Island, a 27-minute account of the seasonal habits of seals that won the 1949 Academy Award™ for best two-reel documentary. Later documentaries in the series, “TrueLife Adventures” continued to focus on nature, while “People and Places” highlighted peoples and destinations around the world. (more…)
This difficult period in Walt’s life included the deaths of his parents, a studio strike that threatened the company’s viability, and a period when the U.S. military used part of the studio as a base. The company released Dumbo and produced training films for the military, public service shorts, and morale-
boosting films, and Walt embarked on a goodwill tour of South America to strengthen ties between the U.S. and Latin American countries. He later produced two Latin American-themed animated movies based on the trip.
Photos and union flyers from the 1941 Disney animators’ strike as well as samples of Disney films in support of the war effort will be among the gallery highlights. Also on view will be original art from Dumbo and insignias that the Studios created for numerous regiments and squadrons.

It was make or break when Walt created the full length feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The film industry was convinced a feature animation would be a failure and even his wife Lillian and his brother Roy tried to talk him out of it. Lillian, told him: “No one’s ever gonna pay a dime to see a dwarf picture.”. But Walt didn’t listen and continued his dream… the rest is history.
It would be impossible to create a Disney museum without a special gallery dedicated to this milestone in Disney’s life…

I have the sad obligation to write the second obituary on the Mousekingdom Blog in less than 24 hours as Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, died yesterday at the age of 50 in his home at Holmby Hills, Los Angeles, CA. While the cause of his death has not been confirmed and an autopsy is underway, speculations (also fueled by a statement of the families attorney apparently) indicate medication or maybe a misuse of such could have played a role. Michael Jackson was currently preparing for his comeback concerts planned in London but recent rumors had indicated that he had suffered various injuries and attacks of weakness hampering the rehearsals.
Michael Jackson is certainly remember for what most probably will stay forever the best selling pop album of all times, Thriller, but had various worldwide smash hits around the globe in the course of its career before it faltered in the last years. He started performing professional at the young age of five with his brothers as “Jackson 5″ (who had amongst others the hit “ABC”). Michael Jackson was also one of the best known Disney fans worldwide who frequently visited in particular the original Disneyland as well as the Disneyland Resort Paris, where he signed the underside of the couch table in the Sleeping Beauty suite. A visit of his to the Disneyland Resort Paris in 1992 (opening year) can be seen in the you-tube clip embedded below.
