SCREAM!

It’s not often that you’ll see horror movies and Disney movies fighting it out in the same category in a competition but at the Scream awards it is possible. Here, movies are up against each other to get the awards in some fun categories. There are 30 categories in total and it’s the public that decides. Visit the Scream site to vote for your (Disney) favorite.

Here a list with the Disney related nominations.

In Best Fantasy Movie we find Alice in Wonderland and Toy Story 3. Not only are they up against each other but they’ll have to fight against the awesome movie Kick-Ass and the Twilight Saga. The last one might win this, not because it’s the best but because of its followers it has.

In the category Best TV Show we find Lost from Disney’s ABC productions. Lost has a couple of nominations in other categories but will have a big problem getting any award. The main reason is because Lost is no longer a show on TV. The other nominees are still on TV and have a lot more exposure during the voting. Shows like Dexter, Doctor Who, V and the fantastic vampire series True Blood.

Best Director sees Tim Burton as a possible winner for his Alice in Wonderland. He is up against James Cameron and Avatar, Ronald Emerich’s 2012, Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island, Christoper Nolan’s Inception and Neill Blomkamp District 9. While I do see a good chance Tim could win this one, his main competition could be the very popular Avatar.

For Best Scream-Play the toys could be the winners. Toy Story 3, written by Michael Arndt, has a good chance in this lot. However it’s up against Kick-Ass again, one hell of a movie. Other nominees in this category are District 9, Inception, Shutter Island and Zombieland. There is an odd battle Toy Story 3 vs Zombieland. Never did it cross my mind that I would ever write a line with these two movies mentioned in it.

In the Best Fantasy Actress category we can find Mia Wasikowska as Alice in Wonderland

Best Fantasy Actor has Johnny Depp from Alice in Wonderland in it. He is up against Tom Hanks from Toy Story 3. Both wont have it easy against Nicolas Cage and Aaron Johnson. Both are nominees for Kick-Ass. Also Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson from Twilight saga are in this category.

More lost can be found in the Best Science Fiction Actress and Best Science Fiction Actor category. Evangeline Lilly could win it in the actress one while Matthew Fox and Josh Holloway double the chances in the male category.

Always a fun category is the Best Villain one. Terry O’Quinn as John Locke (aka Smoke Monster) from Lost will have to fight for this one. One of his contenders is Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko (aka Whiplash) from Iron Man 2. That was one horrible movie, but Mickey Rourke was great as the villain.

Best Supporting Actress nominations for the Disney company are Anne Hathaway (Alice in Wonderland) and Yunjin Kim (Lost)

Another fun category is the Best Ensemble one. Lost is nominated here and would be a very good choice but it’s up against the awesome cast of True Blood. I must admit, as a True Blood fan I could not convince myself to vote for Lost in this one. Other nominees are for Zombieland, Iron Man 2, Inception and what I think the possible winner (even if I want it to be True Blood), Kick-Ass.

In a last category with Disney movies we find Alice in Wonderland and Toy Story 3. The will battle it out against Avatar for the 3-D top Three crown.

The awards will be announced on 19 October 2010. Until then you can vote for your favorite on the Spike website. Not only can you vote but on the home page you can also see what the last votes have been cast for. The instant update flashes by every couple of seconds. A real fun awards show you can vote on. Enjoy!
