Just 5!
And no more! Over at the blog Pop Candy at USA Today Whitney Matheson is publishing a series of posts by the outspoken visitors of her blog under the title “Today’s Pop Five” with (as the name says) top five lists written by them. Today’ Pop Five lists was written by Sam F. (known around the Pop Candy blog as clifford1212) the personal top 5 Pixar short films. His number one? “Presto”! And I personally absolutely agree with that – the story, the gags and in particular the timing of this short is just perfect for me. However, with the reminder of my top five would look different from his …
I agree that “Lifted” needs to be in such top five, but in mine it makes it to the second place. I’ll award the third place to “Luxo Jr.” – the classic short from the early days. Sure, it shows its age but its simplicity is still well, I think, touching might be the right word. Unfortunately it didn’t make the list of Sam F. Fourth and fifth place are going to be tough to call for me, but neither is going to go to any of the shorts he got in his list. So … fourth place goes to another classic: “Knick Knack”. And I am honest here, I am not even sure why I chose it. Maybe because they used to screen it regularly at the cinema in front of the “sneak previews” (these are held every week in the cinema I went to during my university days, you buy a ticket and you don’t know what movie they show until it starts, but it is always a movie that hasn’t opened officially)? Yep, I think that might be the reason – memories. Anyway that leaves me the option to choose just one final Pixar short … and its going to be … “Partly Cloudy”! I just love that cloud and the stork. That’s it. Just for good measure I’d like to mention that the sixth place would have gone to “For the Birds” - after loosing out in the photo finish for the fifth place.
Now, anyone else wanting to let us know the personal top 5 Pixar shorts? I’d love to see them!
P.S.: In case you need a little refresher which Pixar shorts were released, check out the listing on the official website of Pixar.
