Walt Disney Family Museum

waltchrisdianeOn the 1st October 2009 the new Walt Disney Family Museum in the Presidio of San Francisco will open its doors to the general public and the many Disney fans. There will be over 1600 drawings, artwork and exhibits, telling Walt’s story starting from his childhood and of his most wonderful accomplished dreams.

mickeymouseMuseum Mission: The Walt Disney Family Museum presents the life and achievements of the man who raised animation to an art, transformed the film industry, tirelessly pursued innovation, and created a global and distinctly American legacy.

Museum Exhibits: The Museum will tell Disney’s story in his own words and those of his family, friends, and co-workers. Using a mix of historic materials and artifacts, Disney’s achievements will come to life through innovative displays that include listening stations, interactive media, and more than 200 video monitors. Much of the material is being generously lent by the Walt Disney Company and private collectors.

Hours and holidays: Wednesday – Monday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Closed Tuesdays and on January 1, July 4, Thanksgiving Day, and December 25.

Admission: Adults: $20; seniors over 65: $15; students with valid ID: $15; children ages 6 to 17: $12.50; children under age 6: free when accompanied by an adult.

waltonlilybelleAdmission is always free for museum members. Last admission for timed entry tickets will be at 4:45 p.m during Museum hours.

Tickets: Admission is by timed-entry tickets, which will be available beginning August 1, 2009 on www.waltdisney.org. The tickets will be available up to 60 days in advance of the date of the visit.

Membership: Membership includes a free subscription to our quarterly Members Newsletter and a membership card that grants free admission with a Timed-Entry Ticket, discounts on educational and public programs, and a 10% discount in the Museum Store.

Membership Levels:
Individual: $75; Seniors over 65 and Students with valid I.D.: $55
Dual: $125; Seniors: $95
Family: $175 – Family Membership covers up to four members.
Founding: $500 – Founding Members receive an additional 5% discount in the Museum Store, an autographed copy of a recent publication, Timed-Entry Tickets for 20 guests when accompanied by Founding Member, and a limited edition Founding Member pin, and invitations to events, lectures, concerts, receptions and openings.

waltdianesharonFacilities: The Walt Disney Family Museum is renovating and upgrading three existing buildings on the Presidio’s Main Post. The principal building, at 104 Montgomery Street, faces the Parade Ground. The total area of the three buildings is 77,000 square feet.
