Prince of Persia: Sands of Time & more Disney Movies

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

As you most probably already heard, Disney’s big tent-pole movie for 2009, “Prince of Persia: Sands of Time” has been pushed back to 2010, even so filming only in the last weeks commenced on sets in the Morrocan desert - reason not being any delays but general considerations of management. Interestingly Harry Gregson-Williams nevertheless left his job of scoring the movie “G-Force” when he signed up to score “Prince of Persia: Sands of Time” according to Upcoming Film Scores. “G-Force” is the other movie jointly produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films scheduled for a release in 2009. “G-Force” is to combine live-action and CG-animated characters in the live action setting. While information on the actual story line is rather hard to get by, it seems to involve animals (guinea pigs?) working for a secret US agency trying to save the world by stopping a human villain from getting control of the world.

Gnomeo and Juliet - back on!

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Anyone remembering the project that was to be Elton John’s return to Disney animated movies? After the worldwide smash hit “Lion King” Elton John had announced his interest in actually producing an animated feature and preparational work started on “GNOMEO and JULIET”.
While “Lion King” disguised its roots in the classic works of Shakespeare rather well, “Gnome and Juliet” was - as the title already hinted at - to be a rather close, albei edgier take on Shakespeare’s eternal classic “Romeo and Juliet”. To add a fantastic, new twist the movie was supposed to be set in the world of garden gnomes… However, despite Elton John’s involvement the project stalled soon enough. Everybody expected it to have silently died in the meantime … but now the project has returned …

DLRP future - my 2 cents

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

One can’t come back from a week in Walt Disney World without finding the DLRP rumor mill running at full speed. That mill’s wheel is actually turning so fast that I dare not stand to close to it as most probably i twill detach itself from the building , run for a few miles like in Dead mans chest and hit someone on the head! And I don’t want to be that person hit by a rumor mill gone loose ;-)

Which brings me to the reason for this post; the future of DLRP! Sure you have all read Alan Lityes (a friend, a good website and blog writer, and the CO author of an excellent book) excellent post on his always wonderful blog. Sure that plan is YUMMY! Practically it gives “us” 1 E ticket per year for the next , a bunch of C and D tickets , a new hotel and even an Earl of Sandwich (Yummy!!!!!).

Well I don’t hold any further information, nor will I ever write about everything which I know (if someone tells me something and then not to tell it around I wont jot it down on a blog 5 minutes later…and that is also why I- unfortunately- don’t write that much , that often, or any more “F Files!”.But I did speak, both in July before leaving for Australia and also 5 minutes ago over then phone (“hey ciao, how did your holidays go? Was Capri nice? By the way remember what we talked about in July? Might it just be that during the last 3 weeks your head honchos DOUBLED the expansion? Oh…I though so….”).Take it as my 2 cents, nothing more , nothing less, but we are most probably getting a new hotel, we are most probably getting Midway Mania in the Studios and a major ride in DLP.

Early Planning starts NOW!

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

It might sound like it is still far away, but in less then 12 months we will be at Walt Disney World again. As there are many Disney fans visiting here I don’t have to explain how I am looking forwards too it. After, with a little envy, following Andrea’s adventures here on the blog (thank you for sharing your magic) I can now really start to plan and to look forwards to our next trip…

September will be a great month as the 11 month window for some of my Disney Vacation Club rooms are closing by. I’ll be able to book the last two weeks of August, but will have to wait for the 7 month window to book the planned Vero Beach visit. Also the flight tickets can be booked at the end of September.

WDW live part 9

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

yesterday night I was watching Fantasmic,
As I waited for my beloved show to start I chatted with the family next to me and stated giving out advice for there next day (at Epcot).

I had a little 5 year old princess sitting next to me, gracing the world with big blue eyes, long blond hair, a mesmerizing smile and a beautiful name” Melody”!

Well melody started asking me what she was waiting for, and if Ariel was going to be there (she was dressed as the little mermaid, her favorite princess!”

WDW live part 7

Friday, August 15th, 2008

2 quick notes which came to my mind after illuminations;

1. Gosh I can’t decide if I prefer Illuminations, Fantasmic or Bravissemo!
God the dilemas of the a Disney fan!

2. Why is it that each nationality tends to get drunk in Epcot at there own countries watering hole?
Brits at the rose & crown
Germans at the Biergarden
French at the wine bar
Italians at…??? (ok we drink everywhere ;-)

It looks funny when you look into it ;-)

WDW live part 6

Friday, August 15th, 2008

or “how after wednesdays burn out thursday was laid back”.

Some people call it “Orlando Commando mode”!

As for me it might apply to any of the 5 resorts I call it my “Disney rideathon”
Mode! Ie wanting to ride as many rides, or hop between parks, till my legs can’t support me anymore (and I do go to the gym daily …not only for this)!

Well after yesterdays heavy day today I decided to give myself a brake!
As I had scheduled a lunch at the tune in lounge (love the place and idea) with a friend working in TDO I decided to wake up lateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (say 1045ish ;-) and go direct to Disney MGM (er; Hollywood) Studios!

Walt Disney World live part 5

or; the pleasures of solo travel!

Yesterday my night agenda was supposed to be to see the 21 or 1030 fantasmic show (would have been the second time this trip; I love it) and stay in the studios till the end of extra magic hours!
I was anyway only interested in riding midway mania (want it bad in Paris by the way) and the tower.

So, whilst I was at animal kingdom to check out the nemo musical (no reviews , but, WOW) and check the yeti (will we ever see him again in all his glory?) I realized that those geniuses at Disney decided not to perform Spectromagic on Fridays (the evening extra magic night) ; which would have meant no spectro for me this trip!
Plus no decent dinner (something I require to relax) as no tables where available at the studios!

So I called WDW DINE and was able to get the last seating (22pm) at the restaurant on top of the world- the California Grill!

Walt Disney World live part 4

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Did something I normally hate doing this morning: I woke up early (0730…for me on vacation that is eaaaaaaarly) as I had booked a keys to the kingdom tour.

So how did a behind the scenes Disney tour stuck up on a Disney fans ranking system?

To be honest with you I found it good but not tops!
Our tour guide (Patrick) was extremely nice and sociable and had great human skills! A real top Disney CM

The tour in itself started of in mainstreet where some talk of the names on the windows and the parks history was done, then we went on the jungle cruise, but without the corny jockes but with our guide telling our private boat about the mechanics, hidden Mickeys, secrets etc! Very nice.

WDW Live part 3 (aka; dear old Colin was right)

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

strange blog title hey?

Well it kind of struck me today whilst waiting for reflections of earth; WDW has changed so much since my last visit!

You see in june a dear old friend (the above mentioned Colin) came back to visit DLRP after working for 12 months at the rose & crown in Epcot.
He said “its amazing how little this park has changed in 18 months”!
What?
Paris got toon studios, the tower, the character express, candelabration and an incredible new parade!

Well today in WDW i was thinking that since my last visit in september 2006 WDW got so much new stuff, the nemo ride (big improvement), the musical (tip my hat), the new haunted mansion (amazing), refurbed spaceship earth (good but the ending all in screen is terrible), the dream castle show and a certain midway mania!

Ehm

Ok Colin … You win!

Walt Disney World live - part 2

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

ciao guys

Tripple park hopping today
First the always heart warming” Magic Kingdom for a ride on the new mansion (gosh that starcase scene is awsome and tip my hat to the audio in the elevator), pirates , splash, laugh floor, dream show (those masks are marvelous)

Then Epcot to ride nemo, spaceship earth and get an 20pm MS FP

Then animal kingdom for Safari, dinosaur, everest and relaxing walk

And right now I am on the bus back to Epcot to ride Mission space, see my beloved Reflections of Earth , eat a sushi and enjoy the extra magic hours!

What’s the reason for this post:
Just to tell you that WDW solo can still be fun, incredibly relaxing (even when park hopying) and all in all, as tireing as we all know a Disney vacation can be, it might just be what the doctor should prescribe after a heavy work or life period!

from Walt Disney World -1

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Hi my friends
This la Andrea reporting LIVE from Walt Disney World (I have always dreamed about saying it ;-) )

Anyways , after a heavy work year in which I have also lived the double life of manager and University student for a second Degree (how does HAndrea Montana sound? ;-) and having spent thr last 2 weeks on a round the world business tour in hong kong (yes don’t ask ITSM at HKDL is beautifull ;-), Singapore, Auckland and Australia (Perth,Melbourne,Brisbane and Sydney) I decided instead of flying back to Italy to chill my brain out in WDW

…and as, besides a few meetups with local friends, I am all alone on this trip (Danke Her V.D. ;-) ) with my Iphone I’ll blog here and there (as long as the 3G battery lasts that is; which won’t be long! )
