60th Primetime Emmy Awards Nominations

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the 60th Primtime Emmy Awards nominations and Disney has some of their talent and productions in the running too.

In the category Outstanding Children’s Program Disney managed to get three of the five nominated entries. Hannah Montana, High School Musical 2 and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. While I would love to see The Suite Life win I think the title will go to HSM2.

Outstanding Choreography is another category where Disney is present. Again for High School Musical 2. This for the routines; ‘What Time Is It?’, ‘Fabulous’, ‘Work This Out’, ‘I Don’t Dance’, ‘You Are the Music In Me’, ‘For One’. Although not a fan of the High School Musical movies, I do understand they are nominated for this category. The choreography is good and fun, but will it be enough to win? Personally I hope that one of the three “So you Think you Can Dance” routines (either Hummingbird and Flower / ‘The Chairman’s Waltz” ,“Transformers / ‘Fuego” and “Table / ‘Sweet Dreams”) will make it as the choreography in this program is awesome. This show is proof that dance is an amazing art form, but unfortunately so many people still don’t (want to) see it.

Another category that includes a Disney production is Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. Here it’s Phineas And Ferb that will have to try and get the price for Disney. But that’s not the only category they will fight in. They are also presented in the Outstanding Original Music And Lyrics category.

You can see the full list here, including all the nominations for ABC’s productions like “Lost“, “Pushing Daisies” and “Ugly Betty”. The list is to long to mention it all here again and I only wanted to show the Disney specific entries on the blog (being a Disney blog). However one nominee does deserve some extra attention. Michael Emerson as Ben in Lost is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series.

I truly hope Michael Emerson will win in this category as he did indeed do an outstanding job. Although Lost has a very strong cast, it is Michael Emerson that has stolen the show in season three. I hope the producers and writes will keep Michael Emerson as a key role in Lost (I am sure they will), with him the series cannot go wrong. So Michael Emerson, if you read this, well done…

(Michael Emerson was also nominated last year and won a Saturn Award in 2007 for his role in Lost)
