Ratatouille in Paris

As already mentioned on DLP.Info it’s only a rumor picked up from a CNBC article about the new Toy Story Mania ride, but Ratatouille mentioned to be the next Paris ride does sound exciting. If this will be the next Disney ride, Disney might well be back on track on bringing us exclusive rides for each Disney Park.

Lately we have seen clones pop up from rides already out there (Soarin for Walt Disney World, Buzz Lightyear made its way into Paris, Tower of Terror concurred all resorts, etc) and with (old or new) rumor suggesting even more clones (Crush’s Coaster clones for the US, more Soarin for Paris, etc), future Disney cloned rides are expected. But with Expedition Everest, Crush’s Coaster (not cloned yet), Mission Space or even whole new park concepts like Tokyo’s DisneySea, Disney proofed again and again that putting out something new and never been done before is a guarantied success. Although the clones do bring success (like the Tower does everywhere), it is nice to see that Disney still takes the road of innovative new attractions.

With the story of Ratatouille taking place in Paris it’s a given that Disneyland Resort Paris (rumored to be in the Walt Disney Studios park) is the best spot to build a ride staring Remy and his friends. Making it an exclusive would be a great choice. After the movie it could become Remy’s new home, and he wouldn’t even have to move to far.

But what will it be? Still missing in the Studios is a fully (interactive) dark ride attraction. Could Ratatouille give the fans one of those? Only time will tell as nothing more is known about the attraction. But with the movie already in the past and no official word yet will Remy ever pass the Disney management seal of approval? After the Toon Studios and the Tower of Terror a new attraction isn’t something to expect very soon. Could well be that the next big ride might only see the day of light once the park turns 20 (in about 4 years). Will Disney fans be excited about Ratatouille coming to Paris that long after the movie came out, or will we get some other new Disney movie as the base of a new attraction? While Remy might be the right choice now, the idea might burst once the decision is made to build something new in Paris. I guess we have to wait and see what the future will bring us, although I am petty sure that it will involve a PIXAR character…

Remy for sure would bring Paris something exclusive, but even if Remy would not make it I can only hope that whatever comes to Paris, it will be something new! (And let’s hope we don’t have to wait 4 years for it too)
