The Dawn Treader meets Wall-E
We are still waiting for the May 16 opening of the second installment of the “Narnia”-series, titled “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” (or even longer for some of us here in Eruope, where at least in Germany the movie won’t open till July!) … but the powers at Disney and Walden (the partner of Disney for this franchise) already proof all the gloom sayers on the internet wrong by announcing, that Disney and Walden are NOT abandoning the franchise!!
While some popular sites already declared the series dead or nearly dead unless the second movie did outstanding business the partners used the Comic Con in New York to announce that filming for the third movie in the series will commence as early as October of this year!
The movie will be titled “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” and is set to open in cinemas in 2010. While this means the wait is shorter than between the first and the second installment the wait still is long … but maybe that helps build anticipation. For now I continue to look forward to the upcoming movie and hopefully a great score for it by Harry Gregson-Williams.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World will get a reworked / updated version of the walk-through-attraction originally opened for the first installment of the franchise to tie-in. But what about Disneyland Resort Paris?? For the first movie we got a photo-set of the icey throne of the witch which was supposed to last only a few months. While the walk-around-character of the witch is long gone, the set is still in place (in front of the Rock’n'Roller Coaster building). So maybe another photo set would be an option??
If you want to learn more about what happened at the New York Comic Con past weekend … check out the great PopCandy blog of USA Today, which was also my source for this post. Whitney Matheson also reports about the brand new Wall-E preview presented on Saturday on the N.Y. Comic Con … the mentioning of a reference to the musical ”Hello, Dolly!” made me even more excited about this movie. Also news to me was that Pixar got Peter Gabriel to record a song for the the epilogue that will accompany the end credits (guess it becomes obvious that I am a very interested in the music side of Disney <g>).
