3-D-isney

3dglasses.jpgDisney released their plans for the next 12 animated movies they will release. Some of theme have already been shown in the past but these, namely Toy Story I and II, will be converted in 3-D. The next movie to be release is WALL-E, and together with the hand drawn animated “The Princess and the Frog” will be the only two not undergoing the 3-D treatement.

The following list has all 12 titles and their expected release dates on it.

WALL*E - June 2008 (not 3-D)
Bolt - November 2008
Up - May 2009
The Princess and the Frog - Christmas 2009  (not 3-D)
Toy Story (3D) - October 2009
Toy Story 2 (3D) - February 2010
Toy Story 3 - June 2010
Rapunzel - Christmas 2010
Newt - summer 2011
The Bear and the Bow - Christmas 2011
Cars 2 - summer 2012
King of Elves - Christmas 2012

Lucky for me all 3-D releases will also be released in 2-D. I am not a big fan of the 3-D movies. I admit, I enjoy the 3-D rides in the park, they are fun, but a whole movie in this format is not my preference. I find it uncomfortable to watch a 1 ½ hour movie in 3-D.

On the other hand this shows how the technique they use has advanced. I still remember movies like “The Treasures of the Four Crowns” where I experienced the 3-D for the first time. I still remember the movie, so it did had an impact on my, but that could be because of the discomfort of the 3-D glasses and the movie that looked like a double print on the screen.  I guess the set up wasn’t that good. One could say I remember it because how bad it was. The present will bring us better 3-D experiences for sure but I await what the future will bring us. How long before we will get to sit true a movie that completely surrounds us?
