New music from the US Disney resorts
As many of you might know I am in love with music from the Disney movies and theme parks. Therefore, I was especially excited, that Randy Thornton - producer of the most recent “Official Album” releases for the US Disney resorts and thereby responsible to decide which tracks make it onto the 2-disc sets - over on MagicMusic.net has revealed which new tracks will be found on the new OAs for Anaheim and Walt Disney World.
Interested? It is all revealed under the break…
Both OAs were last released in 2006 and consisted of two CDs each without any free time left to add more material so Randy Thornton had to take material off to add new tracks. Here is the list of tracks taken off for the new OAs:
Official Album Disneyland & Disney’s California Adventure
- Beautiful Beulah
- All Aboard the Mine Train
- Welcome To Tomorrowland
- The Droid Room
- Beauty and the Bees (Beauty and the Beast)Official Album Walt Disney World
- Old Betsy
- Welcome To Tomorrowland
- The Tree of Life Theme
But what did Randy Thornton add in the place of these tracks?? Here we go:
Official Album Disneyland & Disney’s California Adventure
The Happiest Place On Earth (2:38) – Grand Marshall Pre-Parade
Submarine Voyage (15:12) – Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
Official Album Walt Disney World
Spaceship Earth (10:52)– Spaceship Earth
The Seas with Nemo and Friends (4:42) – The Seas with Nemo and Friends
Canada: You’re a Lifetime Journey (5:50) – O Canada!
Reflections of China Suite (4:04) – Reflections of China
Three Caballeros (2:45) – Grand Fiesta Tour
[All Aboard the Mine Train (1:44) - Big Thunder Mountain]
[CTX Theme (6:14) - Dinosaur]
So let’s take a closer look because the two upcoming releases really shape up to be some of the most exciting of the recent OA released from the two releases. On the Anaheim release especially the catchy tune “The Happiest Place On Earth” from the pre-parade is the track I can’t wait for. Since I haven’t been on the Submarien Voyage I am not sure but I just hoep that the score (which covers the complete ride!) is interesting enough to listen to in one big setting. Considering the reluctance of the entertainment division in Anaheim to allow their material to be released the pre-parade song is (for me) the big news here.
But I have to admit that the WDW release has me even more excited. Since Spaceship Earth was still closed during my Halloween-visit to WDW last year I haven’t heared Bruce Broughton’s new score. With Broughton it is a bit hit and miss, but I am looking forward to it nevertheless, especially since it is the full score of the ride - and the release of complete scores is rather rare, in most cases only excerpts or suites are released. “Canada: You’re a Lifetime Journey” not only consists of the new recording of the song by Canadian Idol Eva Avila but also the “load music” (the music played while guests enter the theater). But maybe the (for me) most awaited track is “Reflections of China Suite” - finally no more need to stand through the endless movie just to enjoy the great score!! Alas, this is only a suite, but I am confident Randy Thornton managed to cull the right cues. Finally a short explanation why the last two tracks are in brackets: the instrumental track “All Aboard the Mine Train” by the Sherman brothers wasn’t included on the WDW OAs so far, but has been featured on the past Anaheim OAs, so it is not a really new track. And the “CTX Theme” was included on the prior WDW OA already but running only 3:08 and has now been expanded to 6:14. The track is actually a combination of teh beginning and the ending of the BGM (back ground music) loop played in the interior of the institute.
I can’t wait for the release of the 2 OAs on April 8, 2008 … now I only need to get them as fast as possible once they are released
But maybe the most important thing I wanted to say: THANK YOU RANDY!
