Actually, I don't think Disney is looking to build a theme park in Australia (at least not in Sydney) for the reasons stated by the previous poster. I suspect they are looking for a possible overseas DVC site. Since they already offer Disney Adventure trips to Australia and allow DVC owners to use their points in select Australian resorts, to build an actual DVC property would be a great next step.

I always thought a Disney park on the Gold Coast would be great. Plenty of room near MovieWorld and such. Although, given the choice between going to MovieWorld or Disney, I suspect people would choose Disney! That said, a Disney park up there, even a small one would probably give the neighboring parks a bit of a boost by getting more tourists in.

For that matter, Disney building a park in Australia might be the only way I'd consider moving back! Travelling to the US every year to go to Disney was just too much of a hassle! :)

So what are the thoughts on Disneyland in Sydney at White Bay, well looking at the size of previous Disneyland grounds, the dimentional view could not be great enough for a full size park. And what about expansion. The original Disneyland had issues creating California, and now have limited growth potential.

If Disney was to take the full gound site in the end, where would parking be? Would it have to be a multi story parking ground, which would not leave the site clean and green like all other Disney Theme Parks.

I would love a Disneyland in Sydney as I am a avid Disney collector, but still the rumours I heard of Disney placing the Park in Melbourne years ago, would still be the best option as the land is open near the Melbourne International Airport. As since nearly all Disney parks are close to airports.
