It is interesting that you make the comment about not watching the 'on-ride' videos. I admit that since my next Disney trip is a few months off, I did hunt up some of the videos to see what I would be in for. While they show an interesting ride, I have to agree with Simon, it just doesn't have the 'thrill' that I was expecting after hearing others talk about it for many months. I suppose I was thinking it was more like the speed and twists of Rockin'Rollercoaster.

That said, all of the pictures of the queue theming and backstory suggest that visually it is stunning (sorry that the Yeti wasn't working when you were there though...that would definitely have been disappointing!)

Expedition Everest is very much a work of art in its theming and detail, but, as a straightforward coaster, it is still a little lacking in obvious thrills, apart from the one drop and the backwards-in-the-dark section (which IS a real susprise, unless you are ready for it!). I guess the way people build it up is different for the way a lot of people expect the ride to turn out; we were lucky enough to ride it without any pre-conceptions and found it to be a terrific ride (especially with the queueing area and ride theming). It is possibly a little short, but otherwise it delivers quite a lot of fun - unless other people have built it up for you into some kind of mega-coaster, which it clearly is not. It is more on a par with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - not a fabulous ride per se, but a great experience, which I also think EE is. But I can certainly understand where you're coming from.

February 4th, 2008 by Andy De Maertelaere. The new Expedition Everest attraction at Animal Kingdom was the ride I was looking forwards too the most. The new Disney experience everybody was talking about and most people raved on about! Because of that my expectations where very high, but once I experienced it I was left with a little disappointment. No, it isn’t a bad ride, it is a great ride, a good coaster, but [...]
