A New (Disney) Year (for you and me)
We are already 7 days into the new year before I could make it into the blog for some updates and stories. I guess I’ll have to set my new years resolutions to come here and put a lot of updates online. So, with that out of the way let’s get on and see what kind of Disney year this will be (for me).
One big chance in my plans is my Walt Disney World visit this year… well the plan has changed into “it’s not going to happen”. That right, my planned WDW visit for 2008 fell into the water. The good news is the reason though, as we bought a new house and we will move into next month. Some more good news, lots of extra room for all my Disney stuff I collected over the years (it is way to much stuff). Now I’ll finally have a big office room where I can (partially) display some of my precious items or where I can store some of my other items. For those interested, my biggest collection consist out of Cast Member magazines (including some Imagineering stuff). Although I love the whole Disney magic, I love the behind the scene stuff so much it came to be my biggest collection (I guess I worked to long in the theater, the reason why I might love to know so much about the stuff that happens behind the scene)
That’s not all of course, there are the snow globes, the pins, the theme park specific items and so much more. I could start my own Disney exhibition.
Another thing I defiantly have to do this year is catch up on some of my Disney reading. I bought so many books last year but for some reason could not get to read them all (yet). Especially the “Disney Mountains: Imagineering at Its Peak“ is high on my list, but I also have to catch up on some other books that are pilling up on my desk. (Example; Walt Disney by Neal Gabler or Spinning Disney World from Charles Ridgway. Oh and yes, please do order some of those books yourself by clicking these links, it will help us pay for our servers. – I know that was a shameless plug)
Going back to the No Walt Disney World visit this year… not to worry, it has only be postponed to a later date. Either next summer 2009 or October 2009. I guess I’ll have to bank my DVC points but will be able to get an even better holiday when I use them and the next once in 2009. Something to look forwards too. But we just started 2008 and I could not go on without some Disney magic in this year. Luckily I only have to drive 4 hours and I am at Disneyland Resort Paris. It will give me my Disney fix I need starting with the Shareholders meeting that should take place somewhere in February. I’ll also have some other trips planned and I promise to give you some nice trip reports or pictures once I return from those trips.
I wish I could say that 2008 will be the year I would either get to go to Disneyland Resort in Anaheim or Tokyo. Unfortunately that will not be the case (yet). Still they are need to do things on my list, I just can’t add them to this years itinerary. But what about you, What are your Disney park plans for this year?
