A strange new years

It is always great to spend new years in Disneyland, seeing all the things you love (rides, shows etc) with that great little “plus” atmosphere which only new years can give! It is even better to spend it with friends; as much as most of my “Disney friends” (to give it a “group name” but the over all friendshp feeling created by Disney goes well behond such a steroptyped group name) could not make it I found myself sharing a room with a dear old good friend (who stands this crazy fastpass adict Italian since a long time ;-) ) and really enjoying this strange trip! Why am I calling it strange you might ask? Well I have to admit lately I have been using DLRP to the extreme as “home base” for my French business trips etc.  My company has set up a commercial company in France (which I have been assigned to as head from Italy) and the company is actually based in Lagny sur marne! Where is Lagny you might ask? Well next time you are riding Indiana jones look to your right on the first hill and 2 km straight you will see my office!

So in the last year I have been sleeping (a bit to much ;-) ) in DLRP; waking up at 07:30 to ride something/anything in Disneyland Park , working till late - heading for the gym in hotel New York (or sequoia less often) and then eating at manhattans os California grill! It might be luck (but remember that it is work) but since september this has been my schedule practically every 2 weeks ! As much as I love Disney, and Paris is my home , I was really wondering if I would have been “burned” by all these trips! Not so; it was a great new years trip! We had excelent food every singe night and really enjoyed the service everywhere; with Manhattans and California grill really giving a top notch service! Having been there so much lately I had the feeling of beeing “pampered” the execelent cast members of DLRP two best eateries (thanks Abdel, Jenna , Margherita and all your teams)…more to the point I/we had the most perfect ending to the trip with the best ever dinner i ever enjoyed at California Grill (always a must).

But after all this mumbo jumbo what I really wanted to blog to you about was the actual day of the 31st; after all that it the real highlight of the trip, the reason one travells, spends money and all just to be there on that “fine day”. Well; the day was exactly as a normal DLRP day; unlike the previous new years  eve nights (in which enetertainment rescheuled to later horus everything) parades, candelabration etc had there usual times (17:30, 1930, 21pm) and fireworks obviously where at 00:00 sharp!Would you believe that this crazy Disney nut (and his ever patient friend) had 4 “first time guests” with them on the 31st!!! That is the one day in which even the most experienced Disney themeparks guest knows that it is most likely that only 2 or 3 rides will be managable…eateries/food etc will be mobed and lines will be horedous! Would you believe that we managed to start the morning with Rock n roller coaster, the tower, lunch at Blue lagoon, ride buzz, space mountain, small worls, big thunder (twice..as it has to be the first ride of the new year for me ;-) ) pirates, the manor and see both parades and candelabration!Enougth to say that when we exited the park (and ate at the village) at 01:30 we where exausted but all the first time guests had the most beautifull “Disney smile” on there faces! All in all it was another zip a de do dah day…
