WDW Trip Photo book (photo 5): Will this Hat ever GO away?
Most of us Disney fanatics love the fact that the wand is gone from Epcot’s Spaceship Earth, (see my previous photo book entry) and many of us would also love to see that big sorcerers hat in MGM – Hollywood – Studios disappear. While you can still get some good pictures out of it I would love to see the theater behind it from far away. Taking a picture from the theater isn’t that easy. Let’s hope one day the hat will go and we will get to see the view as it supposed to be.
One Cast Member, working inside the hat selling pins, did say that the rumor was that the hat was going to go. (What are the odds I overheard that one when I was there). Sure, the rumor has been there before, and rumors are what they are… nothing set! They could be wrong, to could get come true, I guess we will have to wait and say. Until that time enjoy my hat picture for now.

From what I have heard…there is an issue with the likeness of the theater being used as a park icon. Disney couldn’t negotiate an agreement and the hat icon was the easiest way to block it from being “shot” when people took pictures and used the pictures.

Rumors have persisted for some time about why the location may have been chosen, when it may come down, and where it could be moved to. It changed the landscape of the Disney-MGM Studios and the view down Hollywood Boulevard, but I explain why, even though the Disney-MGM Studios is being renamed “Disney’s Hollywood Studios” that the giant Sorcerer Mickey hat isn’t going anywhere anytime soon on show #28 of my WDW Radio Show (http://www.wdwradio.com/shownotes/wdwradio028-08-19-07.php)
P.S. Hi George, nice to see you here (and basically everywhere else online) LOL

Hi you two, nice to see you get active here too
Like I mentioned, only something I caught when listening to a CM. Although I always think if you hear something there might be some truth about it never will it be so until Disney says so. However you two have a point and as I ALWAYS listen to WDW radio (and if you reading this don’t… you should as it is a great show) I guess you’re right and the hat will be there to stay…. However, one can dream though and hope to see the theater as it was meant to be….
Oh, and if you do listen to the great show from Lou, remember to come back here afterwards

Front line cast members read the same sites and get the same rumors as the rest of us. They aren’t told anything until disney is ready to announce it to the public. I don’t trust anything that a CM says about future projects.
