Although I always think if you hear something there might be some truth about it never will it be so until Disney says so. However you two have a point and as I ALWAYS listen to WDW radio (and if you reading this don't... you should as it is a great show) I guess you're right and the hat will be there to stay.... However, one can dream though and hope to see the theater as it was meant to be.... Disney couldn't negotiate an agreement and the hat icon was the easiest way to block it from being "shot" when people took pictures and used the pictures.
