Disney v The Dolphins

Monday, December 31st, 2007

aquaticadolphinslide.jpgWhile Disney have squeezed maximum mileage out of the Year Of A Million Dreams promotion in 2007 in Orlando, it will be fascinating to see if they can keep it up in ’08 in the face of a new marketing campaign from the Anheuser-Busch parks and their new Aquatica water park

This latter will see a new style of  park when it opens in March as the featured attractions will include live animals – notably a lagoon of Commerson’s Dolphins – as well as the usual exciting array of slides and rides

Inside the Castle Suite

Friday, December 28th, 2007

cinderellacastleprivacy1.jpgWhat would you do if your mum would call you and said to pack and come over to the Magic Kingdom straight away to stay inside the castle suite? You would pack faster then you ever could and make sure you would get their in time!

Check out Mousesteps on the full adventure and a big collection of detailed pictures from all over the suite and pictures of Mainstreet deserted during nighttime…

OOhhh, the envy came up when I saw all the goodies in the room, the Christmas decorations and the suite from all angles…

Walt Disney Mundo Building Park in Argentina

Monday, December 24th, 2007

Read the title again!… One more time!… Did you see what is different? No it’s not the Walt Disney Company that is going to build a park in Argentina, it is Walt Disney Mundo SA inc., the “Other” Disney company. They have nothing in common with the first Walt Disney Company. This is what they have to say about their company name

In light of the public events, we inform the media and general public that Walt Disney Mundo SA, Inc has never stated that we have any relationship with the other Walt Disney, Inc. We cannot be held responsible for any inaccurate or wrong material that is spread in the media based on misleading or dubious sources and lack of rigorous research and fact-checking. (Walt Disney Mundo website)

Are they serious? Are they trying to blame the media for giving incorrect information? Or are they trying to hide the fact that they are trying to get a lot of media attention by using the same name!

New Monorail Mark VII Arrives at Disneyland

Friday, December 21st, 2007

monoraildisneyland2.jpgThe new Mark VII monorail arrives at Disneyland. You can see some impressive pictures of the monorail cars being put into place.

Starting Monday, five flat-bed trucks transported in the five cars of the first redesigned train from Vancouver, Canada, where they were built. Crews ripped off white shrink wrap, which made the cars look like a Space Shuttle, and took about an hour and 15 minutes for a crane to hoist the nose of the first red-striped train to the parking area. WDW Trip Photo book (photo 5): Will this Hat ever GO away?

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

thehat_small.jpgMost of us Disney fanatics love the fact that the wand is gone from Epcot’s Spaceship Earth, (see my previous photo book entry) and many of us would also love to see that big sorcerers hat in MGM – Hollywood – Studios disappear. While you can still get some good pictures out of it I would love to see the theater behind it from far away. Taking a picture from the theater isn’t that easy. Let’s hope one day the hat will go and we will get to see the view as it supposed to be.

One Cast Member, working inside the hat selling pins, did say that the rumor was that the hat was going to go. (What are the odds I overheard that one when I was there). Sure, the rumor has been there before, and rumors are what they are… nothing set! They could be wrong, to could get come true, I guess we will have to wait and say. Until that time enjoy my hat picture for now.

Brenda Song (and some Disney Movies I missed in the Past)

Monday, December 17th, 2007

wendywu.jpgOne of the most fun stuff I got in my house is a satellite dish that brings me the Disney Channels into our living room. It will be to nobodies surprises this channel is on a lot of the time, and not just for my son. One of those programs I love to watch is The Suite life of Zack and Cody, however not so much for the two brothers, but more because of Brenda Song, the actrice that plays London. I love the character she portrays and with her (in my opinion) talent can’t help thinking that she might well go the same road as some of the other Disney stars we have seen flourish in High School Musical. (No, I didn’t change my mind, I still think HSM is overrated with bad character development, but I can see the talent that is working in it. Those are two different thing)

WDW Trip Photo book (photo 4): Epcot’s Icon

Monday, December 17th, 2007

epcoticon_small.jpgWhile I had to miss the updated Spaceship Earth ride, although not even being a favorite of mine, I was very happy to see the big ball standing without the wand. It does look s much nicer without it and I guess this was the reason why I took so many pictures of this Icon. It looks so much better and you could take pictures from every angle or location without the wand.

Now, I was happy about it but some people did have another opinion. I overheard (no, I was not eavesdropping) a guest talking to a Cast Member how the big ball looked so much better with the wand still attached to it. She did admit this is how she saw it the very first time and somehow got used to that view. Still, I think she will be among the minority…

I hope you enjoy my favorite picture. It was hard to choose as I made so many. Sure, it’s not a professional picture, but still it is my favorite…

Guns and Fights

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

It wasn’t hard to miss what made the news this last couple of days. A grandma “accidentally” taking a gun to the Magic Kingdom and the fight between some members of different sport teams. It is unfortunate how negative news always finds a prime spot while the nicest info or tidbits are forgotten about. (lucky we and other Disney related bloggers like to share a lot of the magic, otherwise we would only get negative articles cluttering the web). But this time I can’t help myself talking a little about the events from the last couple of days.

Mickey and Donald going to Court

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

mickeycourt.jpgDon’t worry, they’ve done nothing wrong, they are being called in as key witnesses against a Chinese man who tried to make money using their images on counterfeit toys. No, this is no joke but both have been requested by Italian court to appear on a court hearing.

Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck will finally get their day in court if summons served by judicial authorities in Italy are to be believed. Signor Topolino (Mickey Mouse) and Signor Paperino (Donald Duck) “are kindly instructed to appear before the Naples Tribunal on December 7,” reads a copy of the summons, obtained by Milan-based daily Corriere della Sera and published Tuesday. (Earth Times)

How’s that for a bureaucratic blunder! While Judicial authorities didn’t have an answer on the mistake, it is pretty sure both Disney stars will not show up on the set court date.

Lucky 13 for Ratatouille

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

copyrights DisneyThe International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood has announced the nominees for their 35th Annual Annie Awards. Leader of the pact is Pixar’s Ratatouille with 13 nominations including the one for best animated features as well as nominations for directing, writing, character animation, animated effects (two times), voice acting (three times), production design, storyboarding, character animation, character design and for music

Other nominees for the big one are Bee Movie from DreamWorks Animation, Persepolis from Sony Pictures Classics, Surf’s Up from Sony Pictures Animation and The Simpsons Movie from Twentieth Century Fox. Although some big competition, in my opinion, I think Ratatouille is making a good chance to become the big winner when the awards are going to be given out on 8th February 2008.

13 is a lucky number! So good luck for Disney, Pixar and all the people that have been involved in this fantastic animated movie. For a full list of all the nominated movies visit the Annie Awards “For Your Consideration” page.
