WDW Trip Photo book (photo 2): The Hollywood Brown Derby

tripwdw2brownderbysmall.jpgWalt Disney World has some fine dining experiences. Being on the dining plan we visited a couple of the best places. One such places, although for lunch, was the The Hollywood Brown Derby at the MGM Studios. While most trip reports might include some information about the food, I would rather talk about the amazing Cast Member and their service and dedication.

It wasn’t the first time I ate at this restaurant so I knew it was good. Being the adventurous person that I am, looking at the menu, I was going to for something I haven’t tried yet. So instead of playing save I went the daring path. Unfortunately it didn’t work out for me and I ended up not liking the main dish. My plate being almost untouched the CM asked if I did not enjoy it. I explained that I wanted to try this but it was not my taste. I also explained I was the one being adventurous and they are in no way to blame, I been before and know their food is good. Still, she apologized and left the table. She went straight to the manager and explained what happened.

A little later she came back and said that they wanted me to enjoy the experience in their restaurant and as this was not the case they would not charge me anything for the whole lunch…

You see, these things make Walt Disney World and their Cast Members so special. It wasn’t their fault, I am sure the food was superbly prepared, it was just not for my taste buttons. Still, they went as far as making as special as possible by charging nothing for my mail (The started and desert included).

If anybody from the The Hollywood Brown Derby is reading this. Thank you so much for this. (Where I come from this would be unthinkable). I will never forget this and will return to dine with you again next time and will surly enjoy any of the other great choices on the menu.

Hiya! I found your site by looking for blogs about Disney. :) I am currently writing a series on my blog describing my plan to “Take Books to Disney World.” I am taking a dozen books on vacation to WDW — not to read, but to entertain the books. Have you ever seen Moby Dick ride the spinning teacups? :) In in Florida now, taking the books (and children) to the Kennedy Space Center — but our WDW vacation starts Monday. I thought you and your readers might be interested in taking a look. Thanks!
