A Future Icon and lots of Cars

Disney has announced new plans to improve Disney’s California Adventure and  release some new concept art. Some of the changes where already know while others are new. A big chance will be the park icon

A new visual icon, inspired by Los Angeles’ historic Carthay Circle Theatre, will draw guests into the heart of Disney’s California Adventure. It will house a next-generation “Walt Disney Story” featuring Walt’s California experiences and his entertainment legacy.

Surrounding the new Icon will be new dining experiences, new shops and most interesting of all a preview center where Imagineers will showcase models, concept art and sneak peaks to future projects.

One of these future project will be the new Little Mermaid ride that will come to the Paradise Pear area. The concept art looks really nice and it looks like it will be a very nice family ride.

Car Land will be located between Hollywood Picture Backlot and the Tower of Terror. The E-ticket ride will be Radiator Springs Racers, a car racing attraction that might use an improved Test Track system. More attractions will be added to the land, but will also include a restaurant where guest will be able to dine while seated inside a car (I wonder if the cars will be themed after the movie).

Other changes are the new nighttime water and light show and the Toy Story Mania. To see the full report visit this link

This is a much bigger-than-anticipated makeover for DCA and a real shot in the arm for Disneyland in general. If this doesn’t get people excited about visiting Anaheim, nothing will! I especially like the sound of the Preview Center, which will really help to build the excitement and anticipation.
