Disney Vacation Club Points; Extend or Add on?

dvc-oldkeywest-logo.jpgAll Old Key West Disney Vacation Club members will already recieved their 15 years celebration letter where they are informed that an extension from the 2042 end date can be made to an 2057 end date at an extra cost of $25 per point. (there is talk about certain discounts though). Many forums already talk about the possibility and asks the question what would you do? Extend for longer time in your home resort, or use the amount to get some extra points…

Now, if I would extend I would be… like very old. Sure, I can pass it on to my son, but wouldn’t it be nicer to get some extra points to enjoy now…

In my case, and after thinking about it for some days, yes! That is the way I want to go. I have no idea what will happen so far in the future, but I do know I’ll be using my points now. 2042 is a long way from now and I might be all Disney’d out by then… nah, never going to happen…

But to really enjoy the DVC I would rather add on a new contract (at the Animal Kingdom Villas) for the amount. Not only will I have more points now, those will be valid longer anyway, making me an DVC member fare behind the 2042 date. Obviously with less points (unless more add ons), but I feel this is the best choice for now…

Looking at some online reactions I am not alone and if my reading is correct I see more people not taking advantage of this deal and use that money for a small add on. How do you feel about this? Extend or Add on?
