No More Embarrassing Sequels

cinderellaiii-cover.jpgGreat news for all Disney animation fans; there will be no more “make a quick buck” direct on DVD sequels anymore. It’s back to quality originals.

In a major strategy shift, the Walt Disney Co. said Friday that it will stop making lucrative direct-to-DVD sequels of such classic animated films as “Cinderella,” a move that reflects the growing influence of former Pixar Animation executives John Lasseter and Steve Jobs, who once called the films “embarrassing.” (The News Tribune)

Most fans will agree that this is great news. Let us hope that the future of Disney animation will bring us many new classics like we had in the past. Nobody will miss out on yet another Cinderella spin of. Two thumbs up from me!
