Disney Travel Show (Book While You Watch)
So you are watching TV, watching a Disney travel show and then all you have to do is press those buttons and you can sit back, wait for Disney to call you and you can book the dream holiday you want.
Sounds easy enough…
…and it will be for about nine million subscribers on Time Warner Cable Inc. and Cablevision Systems Corp to start with, and with more cable systems going live once they activate the interactive feature.
As they watch, Cablevision viewers can click a button on their remote controls to request an immediate telephone call from a Disney travel planner during extended business hours.
Time Warner viewers can use their remote controls to request information about Disney vacations via email or regular mail.
Disney travel planners reached through Cablevision will take reservations for its two U.S. theme parks or for the upscale, guided non-park tours offered at Adventures by Disney. (Reuters)
It will be interesting to see if this turns out to be a success for Disney. Personally I feel this to be a very good way to get the message to the people and make them book that dream holiday. A channel like that might be something I would have playing the whole day long in the background while working from my home office. Peaking up to the screen, seeing the parks, would make that job easier, taking my thoughts away from work for a little while…
The launch of the channel are planned on May 21 on Time Warner and May 29 on Cablevision and will show 4 original on-demand series that will show the magic of the Disney resorts and Disney vacations.
Disney has no stated goals for how many reservations it hopes to capture through the channels (Reuters)
(I wonder if this might replace the planning DVD in the future)
