Disney and the 33rd Annual Saturn Award Nominees
Disney might be walking away with some more film and TV prices as they have been given some nominations for the 33rd Annual Saturn Award Nominees (The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror films).
Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Man’s Chest has been nominated for best fantasy film. The one movie I think might be walking away with it could be Superman Returns. Personally I see a close call between these two great movies
Cars could walk away with yet another best animation price if it wins in this category. This time however there are more then three movies on the list (Flushed Away, Happy Feet, Monster House, Over the Edge and A Scanner Darkly). Even with more competition then on other shows there is a good chance Cars will bag this one to.
Bill Nightly has been nominated for best supporting actor in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest”. Another nominee for pirates is for best make up, Ve Neill and Joel Harlow are the names on that list while John Knoll, Hal Hickel, Charles Gibson and Allen Hall will battle for the Special Effects price. Also the costumes might be a reason for a price as Penny Rose has received a nominee for this.
Mel Gibson might be a surprise in the category best director for Apocalypto. The movie has also the possibility to win the price for best International Movie.
Other nominees are Déjà Vu (Buena Vista) and The Prestige (Buena Vista) For best Science Fiction.
In the television section Lost is up for a Best Network Television Series Award. Best Actor in a Television Series is another nominee for Lost. Matthew Fox has the honor while Evangeline Lilly goes for a Best Actress in a Television Series award. Michael Emerson and Josh Holloway go head to head in the Best Supporting Actor category. Elizabeth Mitchell has to fight alone in the Best Supporting Actress group. Although I do love Lost, I think Heroes might be the big surprise here and walk over all the other nominees)
Interesting are the DVD categories. Here we see Bambi II on the list for best DVD release. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe (Extended Edition) is nominated for Best DVD Special Edition. However my prediction on this is that Superman II; The Richard Donner Cut might walk away with this price. Lost series II series has been nominated for Best DVD Television Release and personally I think will walk away with it.
As usual my predictions will be wrong, but I can’t help it by trying (its fun). For a full list on all other productions (including Kyle Xy - ABC Family) see the 33rd Annual Saturn Award Nominees list.
The winners will be announced at this year’s 33rd Annual Saturn Awards which takes place on Thursday, May 10, 2007 in Universal City. Hosting the event will be actor Greg Grunberg and comedian Jeffrey Ross.
