Disney 2007 predictions (and they’ll all be wrong)

fireworksthemagicinpixels1.jpgWith a superb 2006, how will 2007 look like for the Disney Company? These are some highlights we can look forwards to and some of my personal predictions. Remember, I could be completely incorrect, but this is how I see 2007 for Disney.

While I was a little skeptical at first when it came to the “Year of a Million Dreams” it looks like it is a big success (as I mentioned already in Disney 2006 in Review), now I can’t wait to see what will happen when the first people get to sleep in the Castle or once we get to know who gets the Disney Vacation Club points gift. These things will take the Disney Theme Parks into the media and news in a very positive way. I see Disney benefiting from this a lot. Year of a Million Dreams was a very good move that will continue to have a positive impact on the Disney Company.

epcotfromtheair.jpgThis brings us straight to the next celebration; Epcot, the big 2-5. While this celebration will in no way match the 50th celebration of Disneyland itself I am sure the Disney Company will outdo themselves and add some real magic. The rumored new Illumination Show might be just one of the surprises we Disney Guests might get to see. I am a big fan of the current version, I am sure the new version (if the rumor is true) will be great but I might be a little sad to see the one that is shown now go. Epcot might become the “hot” ticket at Walt Disney World but I think the upwards visitor numbers trend we got to see will continue in the year 2007.

The Disney movies will also go for another strong year. “Meet the Robinsons” (March 30) looks like fun, but “Ratatouille” (June 29) might become the real winner for 2007 when it comes to the animation part.

“Pirates of the Caribbean; At World’s End” (May 25) will swashbuckling it’s way to the top in no time, concluding the (first) trilogy with top box office numbers for sure. But that isn’t the only live action movie Disney will put out there. The list looks very promising already and will have some real winners that will make sure Disney has another solid movie year: The Invisible (January 26), Bridge to Terabithia (February 16) Wild Hogs (March 2), Underdog (summer), Enchanted (November 21), Dan in Real Life, The Game Plan and National Treasure 2. This is not a complete list, but it looks promising.

bridgetoterabithiafromposterdisney.jpgEspecially Bridge to Terabithia might be the one to look out for. The trailer is awesome and promises to be a fantastic fantasy movie. With Fantasy movies doing great at the box office at the moment I predict this one to be a real winner for Disney.

Of course there are many other departments where Disney is involved in (Games, toys, etc) but I want to keep my predictions to the parks and movies. I can only hope that the Disneyland Resort Paris 15th anniversary celebration will be another turning point for Disney. This park deserves to get some positive attention and a way out of the financial struggle. I guess that will not happen in 2007, but I hope it will go in the right direction…

To close my rambling blog entry, I think 2007 will be another strong Disney year with growth everywhere. I’ll be here on the Mousekingdom blog to share all the Magic will all of you so keep on coming back every day in 2007… unless you’re having some fun in one of the Disney Theme Parks around the world. (In that case come back after you return from the magic)

Certainly all the signs look positive, with plenty in store in the movie and TV world. The marketing for Year Of A Million Dreams has been impressive and it has got a LOT of publicity, but I’m still not convinced it is antyhign more than a stop-gap to the Epcot 25th anniversary bash, when I believe Disney have a lot more in store for this park. Bloomberg news agency are running a story saying Disney have 11 new rides and shows planned for their them parks this year, but I can only think of 9 (3 at WDW, 2 at DLP, 1 each at DL and DCA and 2 at DLHK), so if anyone else thinks they have the full list, please reveal all!!
