With a superb 2006, how will 2007 look like for the Disney Company? These are some highlights we can look forwards to and some of my personal predictions. Remember, I could be completely incorrect, but this is how I see 2007 for Disney.
While I was a little skeptical at first when it came to the “Year of a Million Dreams” it looks like it is a big success (as I mentioned already in Disney 2006 in Review), now I can’t wait to see what will happen when the first people get to sleep in the Castle or once we get to know who gets the Disney Vacation Club points gift. These things will take the Disney Theme Parks into the media and news in a very positive way. I see Disney benefiting from this a lot. Year of a Million Dreams was a very good move that will continue to have a positive impact on the Disney Company.

Disney had a top year in 2006, most about everything they did turned into gold. The Disney shares skyrocketed and must have made many Disney shareholders happy. Disney Theme Parks gotten a little fuller this year.
The 50th celebration of Disneyland came to an end, but has brought big attention to the Disney Parks. To make sure to keep the attention the new “Year of a Million Dreams” can be considered a big success to. You can read a lot of “magical moments” all over the internet. The more articles about it, the more people will read it, the higher the interest will get from people, concluding in extra guests for the park.

Disney has registered a couple of new domains:
“Disney(’s) Doorway to Dreams“.
No content has been added to the domains (yet) and nothing more is known about it at this time (except by Disney) but they might be an enhancement to the Year of a Million Dreams celebration.

The holiday season is well known for being the busiest in Walt Disney World. It was so busy yesterday they even had to close three of the four parks.
Only Epcot remained open and was the only option for those that came a little late to the parks.
Because they reached capacity, Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom both closed by 1:15 p.m. The Magic Kingdom was reopened by 2:30 p.m., and Animal Kingdom by 3 p.m. (Tourism Central Florida - Orlando Sentinel Blog)

It is done! With a free continental flight and my Disney Vacation Club points I now booked my trip for next years Halloween Walt Disney World visit.
Countdown can start, even if it is over 10 months to go. I’ll be at Walt Disney World as from 21st October (Late arrival) up to 1st November…
I will stay in the Old Key West resort for 7 nights. After that I will switch to another hotel. That one hasn’t been booked yet. Although I would love to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, I think I will not do that this time around and might go for one of the less expensive Disney hotels. Animal Kingdom Lodge will have to wait for another year.

The opening date for the new attraction Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club in Walt Disney World has been pushed back to spring 2007.
“It’s not that people disliked ‘Laugh Floor.’ They just didn’t love it. Right now, people seem to think that this is a very middling show. And we don’t want middling. For the amount of money that we’ve already spent on this Tomorrowland attraction, the thousands of hours devoted to R & D, we want a smash. Which is why we’re going to shut down now and retool for a while.” (From JimHillMedia.com)

If you like your exclusives then check out this picture from ComingSoon.net of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Martin Klebba as Marty and Keith Richards as Sparrow’s swashbuckling dad from the set of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. (as you can see it is now called “World’s” instead of Worlds, the new official name of the movie)

What do you get when you put scenes from Disney movies like “Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Men’s Chest” and “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” together in a movie with characters from “Superman Returns”, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, the Harry Potter” movies, the X-Men and a whole lot of other big budget movies personalities?

Take a look around the main living room of the Disneyland Hotel Suite via this quicktime page.
You can move around the room and find some real Disney gems like a Mickey Phone, Walt Disney Pictures, Disney art and a whole lot more.
Did you know that the Mickey light above the main area slowly changes color?

Well, this one will be specific for Disney magic. No more searching for Disney, you can all find it there or add it there without the need to filter out the rest.

The Nominees for the Golden Globe Awards are known and the Disney Company is doing well. Some of the nominations are for the following (together with my personal thoughts on the chances to win it);
Best performance by an actor in a motion picture – comedy or musical; Johnny Depp for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead man’s Chest. Personally I think he makes a good chance of winning this title even with the other names in this category.

If you got $50.000 and are looking for a car how about a 2002 Monte Carlo Monster Inc. car?
You have to be fast in making the decision though as the auction is only for another 12 hours before it ends. No bids have been made yet for this Pixar decorated car.
To expensive? How about a car for $20.000?

Ed Grier, who is a 25-year Disney veteran, talks about his job as the new president of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. He talks about his plans, the park and the Cast Members. No big secrets will be revealed, but still a nice two part story…
Land is very valuable in this part of the country as we know. So we’re making plans on how we could expand our property and adding more exciting new things for our guests, but we’re not at a point now where we can really talk about those. (Disneyland’s Grier talks about his plans for the park) (Part 2: Disneyland’s Grier talks about his life, career and management style)

Did you already register for the Marathon at Walt Disney world? I sure did…. not. I admit, not so much into running myself but it does look very interesting to be part of it. The Marathon takes place on 6 and 7 January 2007, the half Marathon with 16000 contenders on the Saturday and the full Marathon on Sunday with 14000 contenders. 3000 people even go for the both days.

Disney has added a trailer online of their new fantasy adventure movie; “Bridge to Terabithia”.
The last part of the trailer looks very promising. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait to long into the movie before we go to this fantasy land.
You can watch the trailer in HD or, if you have a slower connection, choose a smaller Quicktime or Media player version.

Reuters had some information on Shangai Disney and its future. No agreement has been made and a possible opening for the 2010 world Expo date might be no longer a possibility…
Shanghai had hoped to have the park built by 2010, when thousands of people will visit the city for the World Expo, but that schedule may become unrealistic if Beijing does not give its approval early next year, the sources said.
…a Disney spokeswoman in Hong Kong said: “The Walt Disney Company has not reached an agreement with Shanghai to build a second destination resort in China.”
“Our focus is on the successful operation of our first theme park in China — Hong Kong Disneyland,” she added. (Reuters via Disney Enquirer)

With the success of Expedition Everest the Yeti will get into the spotlight even more. The new restaurant planned for Animal Kingdom, near Kali River Rapids, has changed its name from “Ying & Yak” to “Yak & Yeti”.
I wonder if the Yeti likes to be on the second place and if we might see another name change in the future
