Italians and Disney

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

italiandisneymeeting.jpgDear friends,

as some of you might know I am a crazy italian Disney fan. If there is one thing I love about this crazy love passion for the mouse house is that it allows me to meet with people of different corners of the world and share knowledge, emotuions, moments and overall quality time thanks to a single common interest.

Thanks to this I have meet people like Dirk, Stephan, Andy, Warren, Jim Hill, Chuck Oberleitner, Lance Hart from all our favourite websites as well as people within the Disney company as well as fans who mingle in the park with me.

Downtown Disney II?

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

westernbeltwaydevelopmentproject-miceagepct.jpgWalt Disney World is ready to expand with a second Downtown (Western Beltway Development Project) as mentioned on MiceAge by Kevin Yee. At the new site guest will find 3,000 economy (”limited service”) hotel rooms, 1,300 time share units, a 270,000 sq. ft. retail town center (up to 400,000 sq. ft. in the extended build out area), Quick-service restaurants for casual dining, grocery store, Gas stations, Gift shops and Value-oriented retail stores.

Sounds like Disney wants to make sure even more people stay onside by bringing some “regular” and “cheap” shops and restaurants to their premises. Many guests leave WDW to find some cheaper food or a grocery store for self catering, once Disney finished this new plan nobody will have to leave the resort anymore.

The movie, a family comedy, will be about Dueling Neighbors and is written by Andrea King and Andy Marx.

Nothing more is known about the script or what the title will be. (Hollywood Reporter)

He’s dying to become a chef

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

ratatouilleonesheet.jpg“He’s dying to become a chef”… that is one catchy line for the new Disney Animation Ratatouille they added on the one sheet. The movie will be out June 29 and looks like fun. The trailer was already very promising and with a killer poster like this they can’t go wrong.

Gatorland fire

Monday, November 6th, 2006

gatorland.jpgThis morning a fire blazed at Gatorland in Florida. Most of the main building is destroyed, including the main entrance that was a big crocodile mouth with big white teeth that used to welcome the guest. Although the entrance is still there, the fire damage might be to big to save it they way we know it. Luckily nobody of the employees was harmed, however some animals left their life in the fire. You can follow more news on OrlandoSentinel.com.

Contemporary DVC Wing: A “Watery” Step Closer?

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

dvcfiledwater1.jpgCould this filed permit with the local Florida water management system (pdf file) by the Disney Company be a little more proof that a new Disney Vacation Club wing at the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World will happen?

With the Animal Kingdom Lodge DVC section announced I expected that the Contemporary Wing might have been for either a later date or maybe even canned (maybe because of high costs?), but with this filed document it looks like the new DVC wing might be closer as I thought it would be.

The permit expiration date is set to September 6, 2011 so nothing is final (Until Disney says so :-) ).

Meet the Robinsons (Again): new Trailer

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

mtr-newtrailer.jpgJust had the new one sheet and some of the characters shown of the new Disney animation “Meet the Robinsons” and we now can already point you out to the new trailer. Trailer is in High Definition (regular and Ipod) and worth downloading. I caught myself laughing out loud a couple of times.

The trailer looks like this will be a fun movie (yes, I am repeating myself), but the only problem is that it doesn’t look like your average Disney Fairytale. We have seen Disney struggle with some of their movies if it isn’t the fairytale so many expect. Just look at Treasure Planet, didn’t work at the box office, even if this (in my opinion) was a very good movie. (I still enjoy watching it today).

With Meet the Robinson I do get the feeling Disney wants to go more the Pixar way while a good mixture of the both Pixar style and Classic Disney would work as well. Still, I think Meet the Robinson could be a whole lot of fun. Just check out the trailer and see what you think about it…

Meet the Robinsons: One Sheet and Characters

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

meetrobinsononesheetiebn1.jpgMeet the Robinsons” Will be released by Disney on 30th March. The trailer was already online a while ago but now you can also see the One Sheet and a collection of pictures of the most important characters of the movie.

Visit Iesb.net for the full collection of colorful and great looking characters. Some of them look like their in for a little mischief. (and we like that… on film only of course)

This movie looks like it could be a whole lot of fun.

5th Gate: Six Months later

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

castlecolin2.jpgAbout a good 6 months ago I started to have my imagination float freely on this blog when it came to the rumored 5th gate. In the entry “5th Gate: Past” I looked at the map that had a 5th gate drawn on it, the influence of Expedition Everest and Pixar while in the article “5th Gate: Now” I looked more at all the things happening around the globe, giving Disney a good reason to jump on the bandwagon to add a new park. In the entry “5th Gate: Future” I dreamed aloud about a possible timeframe. (If you’re new to the blog and didn’t see the articles yet, check them out.) Now, a good six months after writing those I wanted to see how much has changed, how the rumors are going and how possible a 5th gate opening could be when looking at the situation today…

Kingdom Hearts III

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

kingdomh-ii-goofy.jpgWhen you’re a Disney fan and you love games for sure you will know the Kingdom Hearts games. They are fun games that can have you hooked for hours, you can ask my son… wait, to be honest, you can as well ask me too.

Up to now 2 parts have been released and Disney must be very happy with this Final Fantasy and Walt Disney Cross Over.

Disney, according to IGN.com, has already contacted the game Producer Tetsuya Nomura and asked to create a 3rd installment of this popular game.
