Spoof (Mock, Satirize, Lampoon, Parody, Caricature, Make Fun Of…)

We all love Disney and its movies and Theme Parks (we would not be on this site otherwise) and make the Disney Dream a little (or big) part of our daily live. With Disney being a big player others also like to use Disney to spoof and joke with to enhance their product or story. And let’s be honest, the best jokes and spoofs you can laugh with are from a product you know or love yourself. It is the part that makes you understand the joke and that makes you laugh. Just imagine there would be no Disney… how many other movies (and parks or products) would not exist.
Take the movies of “Shrek” for example. Dreamworks spoofs the theme Parks and many of the character previously used by Disney in their fairytales in the Shrek movie(s) and I thought it was very amusing. (Rumors say they did go so to show it to Disney first for approval before putting the movie out there on the market). We could already see some artwork for the third movie where again some famous Disney icons are spoofed. This time the princesses will not be spared and, as a Disney fan, I am looking forwards to the movie. (And with Shrek 2 appearing on ABC, I don’t think Disney will have a problem with it either).
Of course there are many other companies who like to use some of the famous Disney in their product or show.
Even Lionsgate wants a piece of the spoof action. While most of the early fairytales are told by Disney but not written by Disney one might say the stories told by others are not related to Disney. But would Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty and all the other classics be re-used so often if Disney didn’t start the trend? Lionsgate, better know for its more horror orientated work like “Saw” or “Hostel” has also jumped on the bandwagon of spoofs. Their new movie will bring you a darker side of the fairytales we love so much. What would happen if Happily Ever After would become “Happily Never After”? They went so far to ask this themselves and created a movie answering just that question. What if Evil would prevail? Cinderella, or Ella as she will be called by friends in this movie, will help us answer this question with the assistance of many other well know characters. Looking at the trailer we will have a nice fun “Spoof” movie coming our way. (release date January 5th
Keep those Spoofs coming, they’re fun! And as long as Disney will be there I am sure we will get lots of them in the future…
