B-Roll of Dreams

MK-YMDwinnersvideo.jpgThere is a B-Roll video from the Family that won the “Keys to the Kingdom” online. They’ll show how the entered the Magic Kingdom, how Mickey and Minnie together with a LOT of Cast Members come out and greet them while they are walking on the red carpet in Main Street and some rides they visit. It looks like they had great fun!

Although this is an amazing prize every Disney fan would have enjoyed, you do see that some of it was orchestrated so Disney will be able to use it as a big advertisement campaign (I guess). You’ll see the obligatory wave of the family, the ride on the Space Mountain Roller Coaster, including on-ride footage, and a ride on the carousel.

The roller coaster ride had, obviously, a camera mounted on one of the carts. This taking big preparations making it clear, or gives the impression, that this ride was on the “to do” list of Disney for the family. Also the other ride footage was prepared, making it look more like a planned tour.

No, no, no… I am not judging this. I am sure they had a blast! I know I would have had a great fun too. I do understand that Disney wants to make something out of it too, the video just looks like the whole experienced is staged. All I am saying is that it should have been done more natural. (It is the video that gives the wrong impression, my only remark on this experience)

Filming takes a lot of preparation and a lot of repeating of scenes to get the perfect take. I am sure some things where done multiple times to get the take right. So I guess the Space Mountain trip might have been taken more then once and who would not like that :-)

Also when all the Cast Members and Character come out they look very surprised and happy. For sure a lot of the overall experience was a surprise and (I can’t say it enough) a lot of fun.

Like I said, I am sure they had great fun (There, I am saying it again), I am only pointing out what I see on the video and the impression it gives me. I would have had fun too, even if some of it would have been (partly) scripted.

Thank you to The Disney Blog for pointing out the video.
