Happy Halloween Everybody

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

halloweenstitch_j01.jpgHave a great “Disney” Halloween everybody! If you’re in a Disney Park enjoy your Halloween magic.

Don’t forget to think about me for a second as I love Halloween (my favorite celebration) but can’t be in a Disney Park this year. However I can start my countdown for next years Celebration as planning has started… (Yes, I know, a little early)

So… one more time

Black Widow Bride Halloween Special

Monday, October 30th, 2006

katcressida1.jpgIf you’re a fan of the haunted Mansion your going to love the next announcement. Doombuggies.com, one of the best websites when it comes to Haunted Mansion information, has a real nice Halloween treat for all of us. They have asked voice actress Kat Cressida who portrays the new Black Widow Bride in Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion to tell the real story of the Haunted Mansion as it was intended and created by the Imagineers. A story that was getting lost in all the many other stories that had found their way out there on the web, with the fans or even the Cast Members. This sounds like it will be amazing. We will get the story from a first hand source and we might be getting some real surprises. I for sure cannot wait to hear this. This special feature will go live on the day of Halloween as a special on DoomBuggies.com.

From Narnia 1 to Narnia 2

Friday, October 27th, 2006

WilliamMoseleyNarnia1.jpgWilliam Moseley, who plays Peter Pevensie in Disney’s “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”, talks a little about his role and the filming schedule of the second part.

A sequel, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, is in the works, but its producers are keeping details under wraps. “We’re going to shoot in January, and that’s going ahead,” Moseley says, and shooting is slated to continue through the summer. “I haven’t seen a completed script yet,” he says. “They’re keeping it really hush-hush. Whether it’s even finished, I don’t know.”

A Perfect Pitch

Friday, October 27th, 2006

BroadwayDisney.jpgIf you’re a student and could have a word with Bob Iger, what would your pitch be? For sure you’ll have to impress him, and that is exactly what senior Stacey Maya did when she could present her original business plan to him. (Senior wins pitch to Iger with affordable theater proposal)

Maya, a theatre arts management major, proposed that Disney should offer discounted tickets to its Broadway plays for underprivileged children.

“If Disney Theatrical could start a program that makes theater affordable for any underprivileged child and their parent, it could start a trend that could last forever,” said Maya in her pitch to Iger. Maya also considered the future of her plan and its effect on theater, which she calls her first love.

Own a Disney Shooting Gallery

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

DisneyShootingG1.jpgYou want to own a “little” piece of Disney Magic?…

How about a Disney Shooting Gallery in full working order. The Disney Shooting Gallery comes with 16 Guns and 72 Themed Gags.

This would make a nice party game, but one that would set you back for $120.000, the starting bid on Ebay for this Disney item.

Famous Princesses in Shrek the Third Movie

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

It looks like the princesses are no longer having an exclusive contract with Disney anymore as some of them now appear in the upcoming third Shrek movie from DreamWorks Animation. While we already had some “Disney” fun in the first one it looks like we will be getting some more in the third one.

PrincessesOfShrek.jpg

In Shrek the Third, Princess Fiona (center, voice of Cameron Diaz) is joined by (left to right) obsessive-compulsive Cinderella (voice of Amy Sedaris), prissy-but-sarcastic Snow White (voice of Amy Poehler), opinionated Rapunzel (voice of Maya Rudolph), and narcoleptic Sleeping Beauty (voice of Cheri Oteri), who prove that they aren’t your everyday princesses. Marilyn Manson: “This is Halloween” Video

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

ThisIsHalloweenMM.jpgIf you haven’t had the chance to see the Marilyn Manson “This is Halloween” version, that can be found on the new “A Nightmare before Christmas” double CD, visit YouTube to see the whole video.

I guess his music might not be for everybody’s taste (good thing we are not all alike) but I do enjoy his music and think he has done the song justice.

Next: Thailand Disneyland

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Sirivadhanabhakdi.jpgYou would almost loose track on all the countries announcing they’ll be the next to add a new Disneyland Park.

All rumors started to go out of control after Hong Kong got a park and a Mainland China park news started to pop up.

Next is Thailand, or at least one of their wealthy residents with Disney ambitions would like to see this happen.

Liquor tycoon Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi is investing around 30 billion baht in property projects nationwide worth a combined 70 billion baht. Also in the pipeline for the country’s richest man is an ambitious plan to develop a Thailand Disneyland covering 10,000 rai in the seaside resort town of Hua Hin. (Source: Bangkok Post)

On the other hand articles like this could well have two translations. Does he want a Disney Park or create his own (Disney look-a-like) theme park. I guess we will have to wait and see how much truth is in this article. Until then let’s guess what country will be next with a Disneyland rumor…

Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

WaltDisneyBook.jpgThere are so many books related to Disney but I cannot remember one book that talks about Walt Disney, the man himself, the way I expect this book will do. Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination is written by Neal Gabler and he had the full cooperation of the Disney Family.

… one of Disney’s daughters, Diane, did not want the book to ignore or paper over her father’s faults. Though Diane loved her father, Gabler says she asked him to present the authentic Walt Disney. That he has done in an exhaustively researched and beautifully written work that is among the finest biographies I have ever read. (Source: Gwinnett County, Georgia)

Cinderella Castle Suite Concept Art part III

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

CastleSuiteABC3.jpg

Can you even slightly imagine how magical a stay in the Castle would be? I am trying to imagine but I think I am not even near to what the feeling would be if experiencing it for real. If I would win this I would be shedding some tears for sure. The Suite itself alone will be amazing but the views… SPECTACULAR….

A little bit out of “Disney” time!

Friday, October 20th, 2006

This week has been one of those weeks where time seems to be the thing needed the most but was not available. With the limited time I had left I somehow missed out on some Disney news that could have made some interesting topics. And on top of that I will not be online for the weekend either (Although I must admit, I’ll be going for some Halloween Celebration). I hope to be back in full “bloggers” swing starting next week. Until then (to say sorry) I’ll add some of the Cinderella Castle Suite art they showed on ABC today and on the next 2 days. This will become the interior that lucky winners of the “Year of a Million Dreams” giveaways will get to see for real. Some, or many, might have seen the artwork already but just for the fun of it; here is the first one with two more still to come in the next days.

Shush! It’s new!

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

Mickey with CastleIt’s not often you feel Disney have done themselves a disservice with their own publicity, but that certainly seems to be the case with the new ‘immersive entertainment’ at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando. We had heard about a whole series of new live shows being brought in a number of weeks ago, but had been having enormous difficulty finding out any serious details.

There was Dream Along With Mickey (the replacement for Cinderellabration), Captain Jack’s Pirate Tutorial (which had been in trail mode for much of the summer), Woody’s Cowboy Camp, Let’s Have A Ball, the Main Street Family Fun Parade and something called the High School Musical Pep Rally. And yet virtually nothing from Disney publicity about all this (until three days after it had all made its debut - and then only after another email!).

Disney Related Movie Quotes: Fantastic Four VS. Tinkerbell

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

FantasticFourPic1.jpgWhile Disney is not the only thing on this world (It isn’t?), and so watching other movies, I do have fun finding those little quotes used in the movies that are related to Disney films or one of the famous Disney characters.

Here is one such quote from the 2005 movie Fantastic Four.

Ben (The Thing) To Johnny (Human Torch)
Okay, that’s it, tinkerbell! You want to fly? Fly.

Lifted Poster

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

LiftedPoster.jpgPixar needs no introduction when it comes to putting animation on the big screen. While almost everybody knows about the big Disney project they made up to today, some smaller productions could be overlooked. (Even if most of the time they do end up in front of a feature film.). Pixar put one of those shorts on the program of the Chicago Film Festival (Mentioned on the blog before)

There is already a write up about this new Pixar short on Ain’t it Cool News (Beware! Spoilers) and the writer, together with 300 others, seems to have loved it

Do you like laughing until your stomach feels like it’s been pounded by the biggest bully in school? Then this is the film for yah! This is probably the funniest short out of Pixar I’ve seen. The audience of about 300 students/teachers/and alumni were rolling in the aisles.

Poster was provided by a reader of the Luxo Blog and it looks great. I’ll be on the lookout for this little Pixar production

A Disney Photographer for 40 years

Monday, October 16th, 2006

If you want to capture the magic you have to become a photographer for one of the Disney Resorts. Renie Bardeau’s has done it for almost 40 years at Disneyland and is now telling his story on all the pixie dust he caught on the many photo’s he took. In the article he talks about all the magical moments in the park, the many pictures he took from famous people like, Jay Leno, Bob Hope, Michael Jackson, Joe DiMaggio, Robert F. Kennedy, Astronaut John Glenn and many more. While meeting so many famous and important meetings the most touching moments are the once where he met or photographed Walt Disney himself.

Bardeau snapped his favorite photo of the hundreds of thousands he had taken. It is of a relaxed Walt, caught in mid-laugh, sitting next to a waving Mickey Mouse in the front seat of the antique Disneyland fire engine.
