Building The Flying Dutchman: Mega Bloks Style
If not on the blog or on DLP.Info, not in a Disney park or watching a Disney movie then I am playing with my son Jarod who just had his birthday (14th September) and was able to choose, with all the vouchers he got, this great Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Man’s Chest “The Flying Dutchman” boat from Mega Bloks to build.
We were in for a great afternoon of Disney fun, so here is our “Building” report!
The box was big, very big! (VERY BIG). We both thought that the ship will be big too once it is finished.
It being such great weather we sat outside and piled up the 235 parts needed to build this ship.
The beginning wasn’t too bad, big blocks to build the first part of the ship. (And it was looking great already)
Jarod was very happy when the hatch was in place and got Jack Sparrow locked away in it.
It took us longer to get Jack Sparrow back out then building this first part of the Flying Dutchman as he was stuck in the small hatch.
The ship has some great details, and a lot of small parts too.
Inside the ship you’ll find an organ, table with candles and a seat.
Outside on the back and on the deck you’ll also find some candles flickering. It started to look very spooky!
The pieces were getting smaller so we needed a little more time to get to a result. But then we came to the cannons. They can shoot for real so Jarod thought it was good to do some testing: How far, how high, from here, from there.
Once I could convince him testing phase was over we placed them on the ship.
The sails did bring out an “Awesome” of both of us. The looked great and once in place made the ship look big. But unfortunately one of the sails is not staying in place.
The back one is always falling down, no way to make it stay, we could not even add the elastic attachment from the sail to the ship as it would just pull it down. I even switched the pieces with the other sails but that doesn’t work.
That is a real shame of course. Not sure if I should glue it or return it for a new one…
Still it was fun and my son loves it. The Pirates are now walking the plank!…

Well, get the At World’s End, i’v got mine but didnt arrived yet. =D
Here in Brazil i payed about 150 dollars.

This ship is the best ship from mega blocks!, for anyone who doesnt know if it is from the dead man’s chest or from at world’s end, let me tell you: this is from dead man’s chest, as you can see on the box it’s written dead man’s chest(try to match “dead man’s chest” to the title), and i saw the box so be sure that this is from potc 2. this ship from at world’s end is better i thinkbecause it’s has ghost light in front and in the sides in dark places.
any way good ship!

oh and i have the one from at worlds end so id you get it remember it can’t be used in water. and i agree this ship from at worlds end is tottaly better because it can glow in the dark but another thing it didn;t tell everyone is that it has an inside dungon the size of this ship but they should of made it so that the mini cannons could shoot.

ITS MUCH BETTER THAN THE PREVIOS PRODUCT I HAVE BOTH OF THEM AND THIS ONE HAS MUCH MORE DETAILS THAN THE OTHER ONE
