Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy on DVD

PiratesII-imdb.jpgCould you wait until Christmas 2007 before you would by the Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy DVD? That is still a long way away for the Pirates fan! But don’t worry, you can also buy the single or Double Collector’s edition Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest before the box date.

How many fans will buy the DVD of the second movie and will then again by the trilogy box in 2007? I think many will do so, because let’s be honest… who can wait to own that masterpiece on DVD.

Both DVDs will have bloopers and commentary from writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio but it looks like the Collectors edition will have a lot of extra fun stuff on it.

The collector’s edition also comes with 10 featurettes, including a profile on Depp, an inside look at the movie’s premiere on Disneyland’s Main Street, a photo diary from producer Jerry Bruckheimer, a feature on how Disneyland’s popular Pirates of the Caribbean attraction became the basis for a movie and an extensive making-of documentary. The cool thing about those specials on DVD is that now filmmakers take this in account when making a new movie. While older movie live from material found related to the movie, new movies like the Pirates start filming complete extra features for the special.

For the making-of featurette, “a documentary filmmaker followed us around during the prep work, and you’ll see things that went wrong, as well as the joy of the first day of filming, which is really nice.” (USA Today)

Pirates 2 was pretty bad compared to the first one. It had a few good parts, but I think it was just a prelude to the 3rd one. I hope number 3 is better!
