Is it real, a Rumor or a Prank Mail (about the 5th gate)?
Rumors are fun, at least I think so. It is always some good fuel for chats, forums and blogs. Some rumors will see the day of light while others are so unbelievable they never come thru, or if they do we’re all very surprised. One rumor that has been posted on the VMK.forums is, although hard to believe, very interesting and something worth talking about.
Bob Iger wrote a mail, that was only intended for the top Disney executives, but looks like it also landed in the inbox from an intern. 3 nice rumors, of what would be a growth in Walt Disney World, that will fire up some nice talks or thoughts. While the first two might still sound believable, the third one might be a little bit of an overkill. I cannot stress “rumor” hard enough on this, but it was still something I wanted to blog about.
I already mentioned the new DVC (Disney Vacation Club) location and we showed even a nice picture of the new building, but some rumors out there said that the new DVC location might be parts of the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I still have problems to believe they would convert an existing building to a DVC location, however it is possible and the rumor has been out there for a while. I could be completely wrong but I am sure that we will get official news on the correct DVC locations soon. The second new thing mentioned in the mail from Iger would be the a new Disney Cruise ship. The most believable rumor on the list that, is if the mail is indeed correct and not a prank, has been shared on many locations spread over the world wide web.
The last thing mentioned on the mail would be the 5th gate. While we already talked about this a while back and looked into this future a little, nothing was clear on this. Now one rumor has returned; A new 5th gate where the villains would have control would be the next park addition for Walt Disney World. The park would mainly be for the adventures with more attraction for the teens , coasters and thrill ride fans. This rumor has been out there for years. While it turned very quiet around this rumor, it now seems to be back. Personally I don’t see this happening and think that the whole mail is a prank. While the other two rumors are still alive, even without the mail, it is hard to believe that Disney, or in this case Iger, would consider making this 5th park. I would love a villains park, but that would not be in keep with what Disney is all about, a family destination. Sure, we do get some great thrill rides, but a whole park dedicated to thrill rides and villains might be misplaced and not something we will ever see (even if Disney might have thought about it).
A fifth gat at this time also seems very unlikely. Would it attract more visitors? Would people spend extra money to stay longer to visit another park? With all the fuel prices and other costs going up I am not sure if this would fit in their strategy to grow. So why would I even mention a rumor like this? Rumors are fun to talk about. At least I think so and rumors about a villain park, how unbelievable it might sound at this time, is something I have to talk about…
Although I though I would love to see this come to live (Did I already mention that I love villains and roller coasters?) I think we will not get to see this any time soon,… if at all. A fifth park? Well there is room for 7 I believe, but at this time I feel that we will have the 4 parks for a long time to come without even the possibility for another gate to join the theme park family. I could be wrong, I hope I am wrong, as I would love to see villains all the time… I would be stuck in that park if it did come true
