Disneyland Resort Paris trip report: Day 1 Highlights

Here is my first part of my trip report. I will not go for the regular report but will bring you some highlights and other stories related to this visit. I’ll make it a fun read so stick with me and enjoy.

CastlePictures.jpgThe first day of a Disneyland Resort Paris trip is always special. You enter the place you love and you feel like you’re coming home. My family is not surprised when I send them an “I am Home” text message. Normally I feel like home once I enter the gates of the resort but this time I could not feel it right away. The cause for this was that I didn’t have an annual pass and with the queues at the ticket booths it was going to be a while before I would have be able to buy the ticket. I opted to go to the Studios to purchase it as lines are always shorter there, but I must have been in a queue for a good 30 minutes there too. With the time it took to get a ticket I was afraid that exchanging it at the Annual Pass Bureau inside the park would have me in another big queue. Luckily this wasn’t the case and after 15 minutes at the annual pass bureau I had my “Dream” pass and could finally felt like I returned home.

BlueLagoon1.jpgThe nice part about the Dream pass are the 20% discount shopping voucher valid for a day, the 20% discount voucher valid for one meal, the welcome present (this time a Buzz Lightyear pin and lanyard to hold your pass) and the 5 fastpasses you get that can be used for any ride at any time. The park was packed because of the great weather (and the fact that it is summer after all) so the passes came in handy, even if I only used 1 for Buzz Lightyear’s AstroBlaster straight away and 1 for Big Thunder Mountain a little later I was happy to have them. A real shame it could not be used on Phantom Manor, my favorite ride of the park, as the queue was to long for my liking and decided to keep it for another day. The rest of the day I leisured the park, breathing in the atmosphere, looking at the shops and taking pictures. Talking about pictures; I am always asked if I don’t have enough pictures of the Sleeping Beauty Castle when I stop and take another batch of them. My reply to this; “you can never have enough pictures from the castle”. Although I was on a solo trip, I still had to think about this when taking yet another collection of Castle pictures.

The highlight of the day was dinner at the Blue Lagoon. I got the same seat I had on my last solo trip. It was just next to the water where I could see the boats filled with guests pass by. I had some of their swordfish and it was awesome. To end this first day I watched the Fantillusion Parade.

To be continued…
