Shipmates, do that be a new logo I see?

Old Walt Disney Pictures LogoHi all. Just got back from seeing Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (don’t wish to brag) and I suppose you’re all expecting a review. You’d be wrong.

To my surprise the movie started with something I hadn’t seen before… a new enchanted 3D animation of the traditional “Walt Disney Pictures” introduction (not seen above). Beginning with a dark blue twilight sky, you fly through some hazy clouds to reveal some of the Cinderella Castle turrets coated in gold, to an enhanced orchestral “sting”. As the screen exposes more of the castle, the spectacle gets more magical as the entirety of the castle forms the backdrop to the “Walt Disney Pictures” logo. Why the change in castle… who knows, but it does look incredible none-the-less.

That’s all I can remember for now and I apologise if this has been used in previous films (not a huge Disney movie fan if being honest), but I thought it would be nice to celebrate this tiny feature before the reviews of the actual release. The whole clip gave me goosebumps and just had that Disney x-factor. A great way to start such an epic movie!

Pirates of the Caribbean II was chose for the debut of the nwe animated Walt Disney Pictures logo, so it was never shown before. It was a carefully planned change and should be used from this time on with all Walt Disney Pictures movies.

And did you notice the Skull & Crossbones flag flying at the top of the Castle? An incredibly clever little touch.

I just saw the movie and I though the new jingle was enchanting! Too bad I also found it to be the best part of the movie…
