Celebrating 5 Years of Tokyo DisneySea
Tokyo DisneySea is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year, so fans can expect a lot of events and goodies, afterall the resort even celebrated the prior birthdays with small scale events and special limited merchandise (and I am NOT talking about pins here). While the official anniversary isn’t till September 7, celebrations are to commence already on July 7 in time for the summer season. The blog already featured posts about some of the offerings for the celebrations as two name only three: the new day time extravaganza “The Legend of Mythica” replacing the “Porto Paradiso Water Carnival”, the new show “Over the Waves” at the Dockside Stage and certainly their Tower of Terror opening this fall.
But now there is something new - and it is available online: the official THEME SONG for the 5th anniversary and the according video!!While the song has been recorded in numerous versions for different uses (e.g. in commercials, in the park, …) the version available for free as a stream online (and as of July 12 nationwide in Japan on CD) is performed in a mix of Japanese and English by R&B singer Misia, who also collaborated with the composer John Kavanaugh on the lyrics.
To listen to the song just go to this website: http://5th.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/song/index.html. The song is available as a Quicktime-stream (the lowest Quicktime link on the right) and a WMA-stream (the lower Windows Media Player link on the right). On the same page the video for the song is also available as a Quicktime-stream (the upper Quicktime link on the right) as well as a WMV-stream (the latter even for regular connections - the lower of the two top Windows Media Player links - as well as in a broadband version - the uppermost Windows Media Player link).
The video is especially interesting as it clearly shows how the Oriental Land Company tries to interest a different audience for Tokoy DisneySea compared to Tokyo Disneyland: the central character of the video is an older couple visiting the park and suddenly becoming young again and reliving their private romance, while walking through the romantic settings of the park. The whole video concentrates on the romantic atmosphere of the park and barely shows any attractions. Most prominent of the attractions with at least a few seconds on-screen as the key-visual is Tokyo’s version of DLRP’s Indiana Jones coaster which opened last year as the park’s first coaster, but “BraviSEAmo!”, the night time extravaganza is also featured nicely.
If you ask me (anyone? PLEASE?) I would say: beautiful song, great appealing romantic visiuals and even a good story. This video is not only nice to look at and to enjoy if you have been to Tokyo DisneySea but also should easily appeal to the target audience of adults and especially couples looking for a romantic get-away.
I wish the marketing department of DLRP would see this video and decide to do something similar for the Disneyland Resort Paris. After all we as fans know that DLRP is something for adults without children as well and has a really great romantic side - but the world out there? Plus: with a video like that, you might even get air-time on some music-video stations which translates into free advertising. Ah, a sea of dreams…
But hey, let’s enjoy the video and the song from Tokyo DisneySea first of all.

The video is indeed very nice. It is great to see that they show that Disney is not a “kids only” place but that adults can have a great and romantic time too… It also proofs that Disney is not all about rides but that the overall experience includes shows and the “Disney” scenery count as well.
The video sure worked for me as I now want to go even more to DisneySea as I already wanted before seeing the video (Even if this is not my kind of music
)…
