Disney’s Kraken or Seaworld’s Kraken

KrakenRCDB1.jpgWhen going to Orlando for holiday you’ll have a lot of choice when it comes to theme parks. Obviously there is Walt Disney World, for the most of us the reason to go to Orlando, but some of us might also be tempted to visit some other parks like Universal Studios (including Islands of Adventure, a place I love) or Seaworld.

There is nothing wrong with some healthy and good competition. It will keep the owners of the parks busy, looking for improvements and new rides that will convince the visitors to come to their park. Animal Kingdom (a theme park misunderstood by many, but in my opinion an Imagineering masterpiece) is a very good example of this. Expedition Everest has put it on the map of the Thrill Ride fans that might have stayed away otherwise.

But there is one thing Companies will not do and that is making some advertisement for the competition. Or so you would think, but with the new Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man’s Chest competition might earn some extra visitors to their park. The Orlando Sentinel Blog made a very good point about one of the main story feature used in the movie. The villain Davey Jones is using a secret weapon trying to defeat Jack Sparrow. The weapon is Kraken, the Norse mythological sea monster, or is it Kraken, the roller Coaster at Seaworld?

Now I must admit that when I hear Kraken the first thing that pops up in my mind is the roller Coaster at Seaworld. This B&M (Bolliger and Mabillard) coaster is one of my favorite coasters I have been on so far.

The same is said in the article, people might think about Seaworld’s coaster, or Seaworld might try to find a way to use this in their advantage.

On the other hand, while watching the movie, nobody might even notice or think about this “coincident”. I am sure it was, or will never be, Disney’s intention to make the link to the Seaworld Kraken Coaster. Although I am the Disney fanatic fan that I am, I would recommend a visit to seaworld’s Kraken. Don’t shorten your Disney World visit for it, just book an extra day in Orlando for it…

The kraken in my eyes is a greatest ride in all of Orlando and the way it makes me feel was amazing. My highlight of my holiday was sea world as it is a place for all the family and shamu is just amazing and you have to watch more than twice just to believe its real.
