Falling in love again with (HK)Disneyland - Part 3

Part 3; to sum it all up….

As much as I enjoyed the day , loved the fireworks and enjoyed and amazing dinner at the Crystal lotus (after using the impressive fitness centre in the hotel) it was the next day which definitely made me realise what a great job Disney did in Hong Kong.
You see my original plan was to work for my company on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday , staying in a business hotel in the centre of Hong Kong and visiting the place during business breaks. As I had done every available offer in Disneyland I decided to take the Monday morning for exploring Hong Kong City so I hopped over to the city through the MTR trains and……

…well, with all due respect for the Hong Kong residents I found the place very chaotic (sure what was I to expect you might say?) , heavy on traffic and with a frenetic speed of life(especially coming from Australia where quality of life and work seemed like heaven)!
Besides going from one shop to the other contracting for the lowest price on electronic apparatus (I had taken the price of a 60 GB ipod video player to the equivalent of 280 Euros at one point) just for sports as I didn’t buy much in the end, I didn’t find much worthwhile of seeing on a tourist level.

Most of all, I said to myself “this is not where I want to stay after I finish working”, I therefore double checked my hotel costs and decided (as the Hong Kong Disneyland hotel was even 40 Euros cheaper) to stay for all the duration of my Hong Kong Business tip in the Disneyland resort and commute to the city (less than 40 minutes to where I needed to go). Every morning and night!

This is when it finally struck me; the resort is a luxurious and peaceful oasis literally minutes form one of the most crowded and chaotic cities I have ever seen! As soon as I stepped each night at 2030, out of the train after a heavy business day, I felt in a really relaxed mood, with a giant smile on my face! This not only (being a Disney fan) because I was “at Disney” but because the place felt like a holiday island, secluded form the rest of the world!

I could go on for hours in telling you how amazing the re-entrance tunnel effect of space mountain is, or how nice the Golden Mickey show is! I could talk about the incredible fish pond effect at the crystal lotus restaurant yet tonight I wish to tell you one thing;

After having tried to create Disneyworld at Paris’s doorstep in 1992 Disney in Hong Kong probably managed to do something even more unique; the finally re created the level of charm and beauty of the original Disneyland in California, a place where you are literally secluded fomo the outside world dubbed “the happiest place on earth” and created a real for real resort concept in the same proportions!

…I like to think of it as the Walt Disney World resort concept to the Disneyland quality and scale level…

…and I fell in love with it…and with Disney….all over again!

See you soon , and as I still love also that let’s make it in our glorious Disneyland Paris! ;-)

CCFN ciao ciao for now
