Ok, I admit it: I might be late. But hey, I missed it when it came out originally … but after all now I found it … just yesterday … and it is still as great as it was when it came out originally between May 2nd and 9th. Oh, sorry, forget to say what I was talking about: 5 exclusive, free VIDEO PODCASTS from the upcoming Disney Pixar feature CARS! You hand’t heared of it either? Ha, so I am not that late

And yes, you heared correctly, Disney and Pixar are offering five short VIDEO reports running between 2:32 and 3:52 minutes each with exclusive material from the upcoming feature and exclusive glimpses backstage into the making of the film.

So what about following CARS Producer Darla Anderson into the recording studio to meet the actors lending their voices to the cars? Watching John Lasseter as he introduces never-before-seen clips of CARS detailing the characters and the sleepy town of Radiator Springs? Going behind-the-scenes with Chris Montan into the recording sessions with musicians featured on the CARS soundtrack including John Mayer, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts and James Taylor?! Certainly short excerpts of the songs are also featured…

The five video podcast show that as a marketing instrument this still pretty new medium is great - and that it even is marketing that we as fans can enjoy as well. Afterall they grant a glimpse into the upcoming feature which in the past was only shown a few times on some US-tv-stations and which was easily missed. But thanks to video podcasts now I can watch it in Germany as well, without any hassle and whenever it fits into my schedule. Sure it is debatable how much information the short snippets actually deliver, but they at least show material not seen so far, so who am I to complain? Till the DVD is released there won’t be any more in depth look behind the scenes most probably.

The five (free!) video podcasts are available via the iTunes podcasts directory (just download the free iTunes software from Apple, install it, open the podcast directory then use the searchterms “disney pixar cars” and there it is - all you need to do now is click on “subscribe” and the material is downloaded) - for all not using different podcast-software or no specific podcast-software at all: the feed through which the files can be accessed can be found at this URL.
