Walt Disney World is selling off chunks of excess land on the fringes of its empire, allowing developers to pursue their own real-estate magic.
30 acres is for sale on U.S. Highway 192. And more may be put on the market as soon as the company re-evaluates its vast land holdings in Central Florida, particularly parcels on the far edges.
The last time Disney sold some ground was in 2000. The offered 40 acres of land sold for $15.8 million.

Why exactly are they doing this? The lot sold to Centex will hold a large condo or high rise community within vision/hearing/complain distance to the magic kingdom. Selling that lot defeats so many of the original directives that defined Walt Disney World.
No one is buying the spin cycle that WDW/RC gave the Sentinal.
The stories I am hearing don’t make any sense, other than the corporate masaging of profits which would be a short term sad decision.
